Peter Curran (director)
Peter Curran (26 September 1924 – 15 June 1999) was a British television scriptwriter, film director, editor and producer. He co-wrote four episodes of the Supermarionation television series ''Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons'' in the 1960s, forming a writing duo with David Williams: " White as Snow", "Point 783", " Seek and Destroy", "Noose of Ice" (wrongly credited to Tony Barwick) and " The Launching". Curran's film credits include ''The Cherry Picker'' (1972; as screenwriter, producer, director and editor) and '' A Touch of the Sun'' (1979; screenwriter, director, editor). He also directed '' Male Bait'' (1971), '' Penelope Pulls it Off'' (1975) and '' Tell it like it is, Boys'' (1981). Peter Curran (footballer)
Peter Curran (born 15 July 1962) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Hawthorn and the Brisbane Bears in the VFL/AFL. A courageous strong-marking forward, Curran played an important part in the most successful era in Hawthorn's history, the 1980s. After a disappointing loss in the 1984 Grand Final, Curran found greater success in 1985, playing in the upset 9 point win over Essendon in the Foster's Cup night Grand Final and in the come-from-behind reserves Grand Final victory against Carlton. He was a member of their premiership sides in 1986 and 1989. In the 1989 Grand Final he contributed 3 goals. Although he never kicked over 50 goals in a season he came close, managing 46 in 1984 and 44 in 1987. He moved to Brisbane in 1991 and joined the Bears, playing with the club for his final two seasons. He won a reserves premiership with the club in 1991. Peter Curran (presenter)
Peter Curran is a broadcaster, writer, audio producer and documentary maker. He grew up in Belfast, the eldest of six children and worked on funfairs in the USA before moving to London, working as a site carpenter and office fitter for seven years before re-training as a BBC reporter. In 1992 he began DJing full-time for the London radio station BBC GLR. He presented BBC London's movie programme ''The Big Picture'' for three years and reviewed films for the magazine ''Sight and Sound''. Curran co-founded audio publisher Talking Music in 2012, publishing books on Eminem, Jimi Hendrix, Acid house, The Coasters, The Beatles, Glam rock, Adele, The Clash and others, written and read by authors such as Charles Shaar Murray, Jane Bussmann and Barney Hoskyns. Peter A. Curran (27 July 1977 – 18 February 2016) was an Irish astronomer, known for his work on gamma-ray bursts, stellar black holes and the Peter Curran Award. Early life Curran was born and grew up in Cork, Ireland. He received a B.Sc. degree in physics from the University College Cork in 1999, and an M.Sc. degree in astronomy in 2002, working on "Infrared Observations of Intense Galactic X-ray Sources". Career Between 1999 and 2004 Curran was an assistant lecturer in physics at the Department of Applied Physics and Instrumentation, Cork Institute of Technology, Cork, Ireland. He joined the Anton Pannekoek Institute for Astronomy at the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands where he developed his research into gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) and obtained a PhD degree in 2008.
