Peter Colston (rugby Union)
Peter James Colston (died December 2022) was an English rugby union player and coach. In a playing career which lasted from 1957 to 1967 he played 252 first team matches for Bristol, scoring 21 tries. He also played for the Gloucestershire and Somerset county teams. After Colston's playing career ended he became Bristol's first official coach, and went on to coach the England under-23 team and finally the England national rugby union team The England national rugby union team represents England in men's international rugby union. Rugby union, commonly known simply as rugby, is a close-contact team sport that originated at Rugby School in the first half of the 19th century. Bristol Bears
Bristol Bears (officially Bristol Rugby Club or Bristol Rugby) are a professional rugby union club based in Bristol, England. They play in Premiership Rugby, England's top division of rugby. The club was founded as Bristol Football Club in 1888; between 1921 and 2014, home matches were played at the Memorial Ground, since when they have been played at Ashton Gate Stadium in the south-west of the city. The current head coach is Pat Lam who was appointed in 2017. In the 2021-22 Premiership Rugby season Bristol finished 10th entitling them to compete in the 2022-23 European Rugby Challenge Cup. Gloucestershire Rugby Football Union
The Gloucestershire Rugby Football Union is the union responsible for rugby union in the county of Gloucestershire, England and is one of the constituent bodies of the national Rugby Football Union. Formed in 1878, it has won the county championship on numerous occasions. History The Union was formed at a meeting held at Gloucester in September, 1878. At that meeting, the clubs represented were Clifton RFC, Gloucester RFC, Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester RFC, Rockleage, Stroud, and Cheltenham White Cross. The Union was formed mainly due to the efforts of J. D. Miller, J. H. Dunn, and J. F. Brown. all of whom were amongst the Union's first officers. The Somerset County Rugby Football Union (SCRFU) is the governing body for the sport of rugby union in the county of Somerset in England. The union is the constituent body of the Rugby Football Union (RFU) for Somerset. The England national rugby union team represents England in men's international rugby union. They compete in the annual Six Nations Championship with France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales. John Burgess (rugby Union Coach)
John Burgess (8 November 1924 – 3 May 1997) was an English rugby union player and coach. Early life and career Burgess was born in Salford, England on 8 November 1924. He graduated from the Salford Technical College with a degree in electrical engineering. Burgess coached the Lancashire rugby team between 1968 – 1973 and the England national rugby union team between 18 January 1975 – 31 May 1975. Prior to his coaching career, Burgess played for the Old Salfordians Rugby Union team and the Broughton Park RUFC. Mike Davis (rugby Union)
Alec Michael Davis (23 January 1942 – 10 May 2022) was an England rugby union player and head coach. He played rugby as a lock in his youth for Torquay Athletic RFC and represented the county of Devon before being selected for his first England cap in 1963. He remained in rugby all the rest of his life, continuing to coach youth and senior teams in his home town of Sherborne. Early life and rugby career Davis was born in Lichfield and went to Torquay Boys' Grammar School before training as a teacher at St Luke's College, Exeter, where he was studying when he was first selected for the England team in 1963. He also studied at the Royal Naval College in Dartmouth and HMS Raleigh. In club rugby he played for the Devonport Services R.F.C., Harlequins and the Combined Services team.
