Peter Caruth
Peter Caruth (born 4 June 1988) is an Ireland men's field hockey international. He was a member of the Ireland team that won the bronze medal at the 2015 Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship. He also represented Ireland at the 2016 Summer Olympics. At club level he has won Men's Irish Hockey League titles and the EuroHockey Club Trophy with Monkstown and the Kirk Cup with Annadale. Early years, family and education Caruth is from Belfast, Northern Ireland. He was educated at Gilnahirk Primary School, Cabin Hill School and Campbell College. In 2022, Caruth came out as gay, becoming the first Irish men's international hockey player to do so. Domestic teams Early years As a youth Caruth played field hockey for both Campbell College and Annadale. The 2012–13 season saw him play for Braxgata in the Men's Belgian Hockey League. Kyle Good
Kyle Good (born 10 December 1991) is an Ireland men's field hockey international. He was a member of the Ireland team that won the bronze medal at the 2015 Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship. He also represented Ireland at the 2016 Summer Olympics. At club level he has won Men's Irish Hockey League titles, the Irish Senior Cup and the EuroHockey Club Trophy with Monkstown. Field Hockey At The 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's Tournament
The men's field hockey tournament at the 2016 Summer Olympics was the 23rd edition of the field hockey event for men at the Summer Olympics. It took place over a thirteen-day period beginning on 6 August, and culminated with the medal finals on 18 August. All games were played at the Olympic Hockey Centre in Deodoro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Argentina won the gold medal for the first time after defeating Belgium 4–2 in the final. Defending champions Germany won the bronze medal by defeating the Netherlands 4–3 on a penalty shoot-out after a 1–1 draw. The 2014–15 Men's FIH Hockey World League Semifinals took place in June and July 2015. A total of 20 teams competing in 2 events took part in this round of the tournament playing for 7 berths in the Final, played between 5–13 December 2015 in Raipur, India. The 2014–15 Men's FIH Hockey World League Round 2 was held from January to March 2015. A total of 24 teams competed in 3 events in this round of the tournament playing for 9 berths in the Semifinals, to be played in June and July 2015. Qualification 8 teams ranked between 12th and 19th in the FIH World Rankings current at the time of seeking entries for the competition qualified automatically in addition to 14 teams qualified from Round 1 and two nations that did not meet ranking criteria and were exempt from Round 1 to host a Round 2 tournament. Men's FIH Hockey World League
The Men's FIH Hockey World League was an international field hockey competition organised by the International Hockey Federation. The league also served as a qualifier for the 2014 and 2018 Men's Hockey World Cups and the 2016 Olympic Games. Three seasons were held in 2012–13, 2014–15 and 2016-17. It was replaced by the new Men's FIH Pro League and Hockey Series in 2018-19. Format The tournament featured four rounds. For each edition the FIH decides the number of events and teams for each round. The number of Round 1 events varied in each cycle depending on the number of participating national teams. Teams were grouped regionally, although European teams were split in several tournaments. The remaining rounds have teams selected with no regional restrictions. 2009 Men's Hockey World Cup Qualifiers
The 2009 Men's Hockey World Cup Qualifiers were the 12th edition of the Hockey World Cup qualification tournament. Three events were held between October and November 2009 in France, New Zealand and Argentina and only the winner of each would earn a berth to play in the 2010 World Cup, to be held in New Delhi, India. Pakistan, New Zealand and Argentina each won one of the three tournaments. Cookstown Hockey Club
Cookstown Hockey Club is a hockey club based in Cookstown, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. It is affiliated to the Ulster Branch of the Irish Hockey Association and was founded in 1951. The first team currently plays in the Premier League of the Ulster Senior League. In addition the club also fields five Junior League teams and two ladies' teams. The ladies' team currently play in the second tier of Ulster Hockey in senior league section one.
