Peter Bottome
Peter Bottome Deery (28 December 1937 – 14 February 2016) was a Venezuelan businessman. He was shareholder and the General Director of Venezuelan corporation Empresas 1BC. Biography His parents were Robert Bottome and Kathleen Deery. Later, Katherine Deery married William H. Phelps Jr., founder of Venezuelan TV station RCTV. Peter Bottome Deery was the brother of Robert Bottome Deery, owner of VenEconomy, a consultancy company providing financial, political and economic data in Venezuela. In 1959, Peter Bottome became director of the radio station Radio Caracas Radio. He gave the radio station a new style focused on broadcasting American music. Years later, he founded Caracas 92.9, an FM station in Caracas. Myeloma
Multiple myeloma (MM), also known as plasma cell myeloma and simply myeloma, is a cancer of plasma cells, a type of white blood cell that normally produces antibodies. Often, no symptoms are noticed initially. As it progresses, bone pain, anemia, kidney dysfunction, and infections may occur. Complications may include amyloidosis. The cause of multiple myeloma is unknown. Risk factors include obesity, radiation exposure, family history, and certain chemicals. There is an increased risk of multiple myeloma in certain occupations. This is due to the occupational exposure to aromatic hydrocarbon solvents having a role in causation of multiple myeloma. Multiple myeloma may develop from monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance that progresses to smoldering myeloma. History The airline was established in 1982 and started operations on June 30 of the year. It was part of a full service safari company with its own lodges, camps, guides, aircraft and sailing vessels and operated services to remote destinations in Venezuela, including tourist attractions. It had 300 employees by March 2010. In October 2014, the airline was forced to suspend its flights to Aruba, affecting more than 7,000 customers. The airline's suspension was due to a failure in an aircraft that covered the route, however the National Institute of Civil Aviation indicated that the suspension was due to the over-sale of tickets for said route, as well as the creation of new unauthorized flights to cover the over-sale. Kathleen Deery de Phelps, better known as Kathy Phelps, (Sydney, 22 November 1908 – Caracas, Venezuela, 21 August 2001) was an Australian born Venezuelan explorer, collector and conservationist. Biography She was born in Sydney to Arthur Deery and Agnes Thorne. She did higher studies in the United States. In 1940 she came to Venezuela and became a Venezuelan citizen in 1941 with her marriage to ornithologist and businessman William H. Phelps Jr. She participated with her husband in several expeditions to investigate the fauna and flora of Venezuela. Together with Carmen de Phister, she founded the Association of Girl Scouts of Venezuela (AGSV) on 26 June 1958. She was president of the Venezuelan Red Cross. She wrote several books based on her experiences. She also presided over the Phelps Collection, which is considered the largest collection of birds in Latin America, with more than 80,000 birds in feathers, 1,000 preserved in alcohol and 1,500 skeletons.
