Peter Anderson (artist)
Peter Anderson (1901–1984) was an American ceramist and founder of Shearwater Pottery in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. He was born in New Orleans to George Walter Anderson, a grain broker, and Annette McConnell Anderson, member of a prominent New Orleans family, who had studied art at Newcomb College, where he had absorbed the ideals of the American Arts and Crafts movement. Career in 1928 anderson opened his business: Shearwater Pottery. The business turned, jiggered and cast pottery pieces which were then glazed. By 1931 the Shearwater pottery achieved national recognition in Ney York's Contemporary American Ceramics Exhibition. His pieces were also displayed at several museums including The Virginia Museum of fine Arts and the Old Capitol Museum The Old Mississippi State Capitol, also known as Old Capitol Museum or Old State Capitol, served as the Mississippi statehouse from 1839 until 1903. Peter Anderson (abolitionist)
Peter Anderson (c. 1822-1879) was an African American rights activist who actively participated in California Colored Conventions Movements during the 1800s. Anderson was also the author of a newspaper called ''The Pacific Appeal'' which advocated black rights and helped activists network. Anderson and his coeditor Philip Alexander Bell argued often and eventually these disagreements led Bell to split off and create his own paper called ''The Elevator'' while Peterson continued with ''The Pacific Appeal''. Birth and early Life There is little historical record of Peter Anderson's early life. What is known is that he was born in Pennsylvania in about 1822 and moved to California as the Gold Rush ended. Peter T. Anderson (July 4, 1847 – July 25, 1907) served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He received the Medal of Honor for his actions during the Battle of Bentonville. Anderson was born July 4, 1847, in Lafayette County, Wisconsin. He enlisted in the 31st Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry in September 1863 and was mustered out in July 1865. Peter William Anderson (born 22 May 1961, South Brisbane, Queensland) is a former Australian first-class cricketer, representing Queensland and South Australia. He was right-handed wicket-keeper batsman. Domestic career Anderson played 56 first-class matches from 1986 to 1994, in which he scored 1399 runs at an average of 17.93, with six half-centuries.
