Pete Tauriello
Pete Tauriello is a veteran traffic anchor on 1010 WINS, WKXW and several other radio stations in the New York City area including a few years on the Z-100 "Morning Zoo." He has also served as a traffic reporter on WWOR-TV and more recently on WNBC-TV's "Today In New York." Tauriello graduated from Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey, where he was active in the college's radio station, WSOU-FM. He holds a B.A. in Communication Arts. As an alumnus of WSOU,he was recognized for his achievements and service when he was voted into the WSOU Hall of Fame. He also received the NY Achievement in Radio Award 2 consecutive years. One for best air talent and the second for best traffic reporter. Prior to joining Shadow Traffic in 1982, he served as the morning host on WADB in Point Pleasant, New Jersey (1976–78). WINS (1010 Hertz, kHz) is a commercial AM radio, AM radio station licensed to New York City, New York, New York, owned by Audacy, Inc. It features an All-news radio, all-news format known as 1010 WINS, with the call sign Phonetics, phonetically pronounced as "wins". WEPN (1050 kHz) is an all-sports AM radio station licensed to New York, New York. The station is owned-and-operated by Good Karma Brands and its transmitter site is located in North Bergen, New Jersey. The 1050 AM facility in New York signed on in 1922 as WHN. For the majority of its existence under these call letters, as well as during its 14-year stint as WMGM, the station broadcast several different music-based formats, finally assuming a country music format in 1973. In 1987, WHN dropped its country format to become the first radio station dedicated entirely to sports programming, changing its call letters to WFAN. Point Pleasant is a borough in Ocean County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was down from 19,306 in 2000 but still up from 18,177 in 1990. Shadow Broadcast Services (Shadow Traffic) was a broadcasting outsourcing company based in Rutherford, New Jersey. It was a subsidiary of Clear Channel Communications. Together with its sister companies Metro Networks, Metro Source, Total Traffic Network, SigAlert and Traffax, the company operated a number of local and regional news and traffic operations that provided regular reports to affiliates. The company was founded in 1975 by Michael Lenet in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The name was derived from Lenet’s ''handle'', or nickname; he called himself the "Silver Shadow." Lenet began the operation as an informal traffic reporting service that was provided over citizens' band radio.
