Pete Jacobs (triathlete)
Pete Jacobs (born 27 October 1981) is an Australian professional triathlete competing primarily in long-distance, non-drafting triathlon events. He is the winner of the 2012 Ironman World Championship. Athletic career Jacobs was born to parents Jenny and Geoff in Sydney, Australia and raised in the Northern Beaches area. He grew up following his mother to local triathlon events but took to surf lifesaving as well as cross country running growing up, but states that he never took running seriously at that point. Jacobs started competing in triathlon at the age of 18. During his training at the pool for surf lifesaving he meet other triathletes that helped guide him into the sport. It wasn't until after four years in a landscaping apprenticeship, which he started right out of school, that he decided to turn pro. Peter Jacobs (born 26 September 1938) is a British épée fencer who competed at the Olympics. Fencing career Jacobs was a three-time fencing Blue from 1960–62, and was on the winning team each time. In 1960, he became the first post-war undergraduate to win the UK’s oldest épée competition, the Miller-Hallett Cup. He also won the Universities Athletic Union épée title in 1961. Having missed out on a medal by a single hit at the 1961 Summer Universiade in Sofia, Jacobs won the épée title two years later at the 1963 event in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Peter Daniel Alexander Jacobs (born 3 December 1939) is a Canadian landscape architect specializing in the conservation and development of rural and northern landscapes and in urban landscape design. He is Emeritus professor of the School of Planning and Landscape Architecture of the Universite de Montreal, Emeritus Chair of the Commission on Environmental Planning of the International Union for the conservation of nature (IUCN), Past President of the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA), Chair of the Kativik Environmental Quality Commission (from 1979) and a Member of the Royal Canadian Academy of the Arts. Pete Jacobs (musician)
Pete Edward Jacobs (May 7, 1899 in Asbury Park, New Jersey – c. 1952) was an American jazz drummer. Jacobs played in the Musical Aces, then joined the band of Claude Hopkins from 1926 to 1928. He left Hopkins to play with Charlie Skeete in 1928, then returned to play with Hopkins from 1928 until 1938. During this ten-year tenure in Hopkins's orchestra, Jacobs recorded extensively with the group on Brunswick Records, particularly during the period 1932 to 1927. Additionally, he appeared with the band in the short films ''Barbershop Blues'' (1933) and ''By Request'' (1936). Jacobs fell ill in 1938 and had to quit the group, and never returned to active performance. Peter Jacobs (born 17 August 1945) is an English pianist. Jacobs was born in London and studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Alexander Kelly (piano) and Eric Fenby (harmony). For a while he was Director of Music at Taunton School, but returned to London to begin his career as a concert pianist, examiner and adjudicator. His initial public performances were in chamber groups, and as part of a pianist duo with Elizabeth Lightoller before making his solo debut at the Wigmore Hall on 9 May 1975 with a programme of little-known 20th century composers. He has continued to concentrate on out-of-the-way (particularly English and French) repertoire of the late 19th and 20th centuries throughout his subsequent career, playing works by such figures as Henry Balfour Gardiner, Alan Bush, Benjamin Dale, John Foulds, Trevor Hold, Billy Mayerl, Betty Roe, Harold Truscott and Percy Turnbull.
