Pete Garcia
Pedro Andres Garcia (born September 18, 1961) is a Cuban-born American sports administrator who was the athletic director for FIU Panthers, Florida International University since 2006. Previously, Garcia was director of football operations at the Miami Hurricanes football, University of Miami, vice president of the Cleveland Browns, and associate athletic director at the University of Miami. Early life and education Born in 1961 in Havana, Cuba, Garcia moved to the United States with his family at age six under the Freedom Flights program. Garcia graduated from Hialeah High School and later completed a Bachelor of Science, B.S. in business administration at the University of Miami in 1984. FIU Panthers
The FIU Panthers (also known as Florida INT Panthers) are the athletic teams representing Florida International University, an American public university located in Westchester, Florida. The Panthers currently compete in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I athletics as members of Conference USA, other than the men's soccer team which competes in the American Athletic Conference. Until 2011, they were known as the FIU Golden Panthers. 1991 Miami Hurricanes Football Team
The 1991 Miami Hurricanes football team represented the University of Miami during the 1991 NCAA Division I-A football season. It was the Hurricanes' 66th season of football and first as a member of the Big East Conference. The Hurricanes were led by third-year head coach Dennis Erickson and played their home games at the Orange Bowl. They finished the season 12–0 overall and 2–0 in the Big East while playing a partial conference schedule. They were invited to the Orange Bowl where they defeated Nebraska, 22–0. 2010 Little Caesars Pizza Bowl
The 2010 Little Caesars Pizza Bowl was an NCAA bowl game (previously the Motor City Bowl game) played at 8:30 p.m. EST on December 26, 2010 at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan and aired on ESPN. The bowl game matched up the Florida International Panthers of the Sun Belt Conference against the Toledo Rockets of the Mid-American Conference. The game was the 14th installment of the bowl game played in Detroit. Teams Florida International Florida International played in its first bowl game in school history. 2010 FIU Panthers Football Team
The 2010 FIU Panthers football team represented Florida International University during the 2010 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team was coached by Mario Cristobal and played their homes games at the on-campus FIU Stadium in Miami. On November 27, 2010, the FIU Panthers won a share of their first ever Sun Belt Conference championship and became eligible to compete in a post-season bowl game for the first time in school history. The Panthers had the opportunity to win the Sun Belt Conference outright but faltered against the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders in the final game of regular season, 27–28. At the end of the regular season, FIU accepted an invitation to play in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl on December 26, 2010, where they faced Toledo of the Mid-American Conference. Mario Cristobal
Mario Manuel Cristobal (born September 24, 1970) is head football coach of the Miami Hurricanes football team at the University of Miami. Cristobal previously was the head football coach at Florida International University (FIU) from 2007 to 2012 and the University of Oregon from 2017 to 2021. He was an all-conference offensive tackle on the Miami Hurricanes football team that won College football national championships in NCAA Division I FBS, national championships in 1989 and 1991. Don Strock
Donald Joseph Strock (born November 27, 1950) is a former American football player and coach. He played professionally as a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL) with the Miami Dolphins (1973–1987), Cleveland Browns (1988), and Indianapolis Colts (1989). Strock served as the head football coach at Florida International University from 2002 to 2006, compiling a record of 15–41. Playing career College Strock played college football at Virginia Tech. In his senior season in 1972, Strock led the nation in total passing and total offense, yet finished only ninth in voting for the Heisman Trophy. He was voted third-team All-America.
