Pete Fry
Pete Fry is a Canadian politician and business owner in Vancouver, British Columbia, who has served as councillor on the Vancouver City Council since 2018. He is a member of the Green Party of Vancouver. Owner of a graphics and communications agency in Vancouver, Fry became involved in community activism, serving as community representative for the City of Vancouver's Downtown Eastside Local Area Plan, as well as chair of the Strathcona Residents’ Association. He first ran for city council in the 2014 municipal election, but was not elected. He then secured the nomination of the Green Party of British Columbia in a 2016 provincial by-election in the riding of Vancouver-Mount Pleasant, where he lost to British Columbia New Democratic Party candidate Melanie Mark. 2018 Vancouver Municipal Election
The 2018 Vancouver municipal election was held on October 20, 2018, the same day as other municipalities and regional districts in British Columbia selected their new municipal governments. Voters elected a mayor, 10 city councillors, 7 park board commissioners, and 9 school board trustees through plurality-at-large voting. Official registration for all candidates opened on September 4, 2018, and closed on September 14, 2018. For the first time, candidates were listed in random order instead of alphabetical order. This was done in an effort to create a more even playing field for candidates, as research has shown many voters are more likely to vote for those listed first on a ballot, giving those candidates a perceived advantage over those lower down on the list. Jean Swanson
Jean Swanson (born ) is a Canadian politician, anti-poverty activist, and writer in Vancouver, British Columbia. She represented the left-wing Coalition of Progressive Electors on Vancouver City Council as one of Vancouver's 10 at-large city councillors from 2018 to 2022. Adriane Carr (born 1952) is a Canadian academic, activist and politician with the Green Party in British Columbia and Canada. She is also a councillor on Vancouver City Council. Rebecca Bligh
Rebecca Bligh is a Canadian politician, who was elected to Vancouver City Council in the 2018 Vancouver municipal election. First elected as a member of the Non-Partisan Association, she left the party in 2019 claiming its ideology was driving towards the "far-right" following the election of its new executive. Her concerns were echoed by 2018 NPA mayoral candidate Ken Sim, while Bligh's fellow NPA councillors Melissa De Genova, Lisa Dominato, Colleen Hardwick and Sarah Kirby-Yung did not leave the party, but took steps to distance themselves from its board.
