Pete Brady (presenter)
Pete Brady (born 1941) is a Canadian radio presenter, television presenter and company director who has worked in the United Kingdom for over 50 years. He was one of the original lineup of disc jockeys on the pirate radio station Radio London as well as BBC Radio 1 and was one of the original presenters of ''Magpie''. He retired early from broadcasting to set up Clearwater Communications, a group of companies specialising in the production of major corporate events around the world. He was diagnosed with tongue and kidney cancer in 2015 and is now concentrating on helping others who have been diagnosed and treated for Head and Neck cancers. Brady was born in Montreal and was heavily involved in radio during his teen years. He first joined Radio Jamaica as a stand-in presenter. Thames Television, commonly simplified to just Thames, was a Broadcast license, franchise holder for a region of the British ITV (TV network), ITV television network serving Greater London, London and surrounding areas from 30 July 1968 until the night of 31 December 1992. Thames Television broadcast from 9:25 Monday morning to 5:15 Friday afternoon (7:00 Friday night until 1982) at which time it would hand over to London Weekend Television (LWT). Radio Luxembourg (English) Presenters
Radio Luxembourg was a multilingual commercial broadcaster in Luxembourg. It is known in most non-English languages as RTL (for Radio Television Luxembourg). The English-language service of Radio Luxembourg began in 1933 as one of the earliest commercial radio stations broadcasting to the UK and Ireland. The station provided a way to circumvent British legislation which until 1973 gave the BBC a monopoly of radio broadcasting on UK territory and prohibited all forms of advertising over the domestic radio spectrum. It boasted the most powerful privately owned transmitter in Europe (200 kW, broadcasting on medium wave). Radio London (Big L)
Big L was the name of a short-lived broadcasting company registered by the British licensing authority Ofcom fro11 June 2002 to 10 June 2003for a satellite radio service known as Big L. The license stated that the station ''"… will provide an eclectic mix of rock and pop, both modern and classic. News and weather will be broadcast hourly. The service will be in English language and will be free to air."'' The station was owned by Big L Limited. Though the station targeted audience in the United Kingdom, advertisers developed their commercials mainly to reach English speakers in the Netherlands.
