Petar Janjatović (born 1956 in Belgrade) is a Serbian author, journalist, and music critic. Biography Janjatović was born in Belgrade on June 30, 1956. Journalism As a teenager, he contributed to Radio Beograd show ''Veče uz radio'' (''Evening by the Radio''). He wrote for music magazines ''Džuboks'', ''Rock'', ''X zabava'' and ''Ukus nestašnih'', but also for ''Start'', '' Politikin Zabavnik'', '' NIN'', ''Vreme'', '' Duga'', ''Reporter'', ''Super Tin'' and ''Politika''. In 1993, he left Radio Beograd, and during the 1990s worked on radio stations Politika, Zrenjanin and Pančevo. From 1997 to 2002 he was the music editor on Radio Pančevo. From 2006 to 2012, he, together with Tomislav Grujić, on Radio B92, had a show ''Juboks'' (''Yubox''), which dealt with pop and rock scene of SFR Yugoslavia successor states. ''Idol'' (Cyrillic: Идол) was a reality TV contest produced in Belgrade, Serbia and aired from 2003 until 2005. Based on the popular British show '' Pop Idol'', it was its local version for young singing hopefuls in the then still existing state union of Serbia and Montenegro. For the second season, Macedonia was added to the mix as well. Being referred to unofficially as ''Srpski Idol'' (Serbian Idol) or ''Idol SCG'' in season one, it was considered as ''Balkan Idol'' during its second season because of the adding of Skopje as the audition destination resulting in a number of Macedonian contestants making it into the top 12, however throughout the entire running of the series its official name remained ''Idol'' only. Festival Omladina
Festival Omladina (English: ''Youth Festival''), also known as Omladinski Festival, is a music festival held in Subotica, Serbia. The festival was founded in 1961 as a competition of young composers of popular music. Their compositions were initially performed by pop singers, but soon the performers of competing compositions became rock bands. In the 1970s, the non-competitive part, featuring established rock acts, was added to the program, and in the 1980s the festival became a competition of young rock bands. During the years, some of the most notable acts of the Yugoslav pop and rock scene performed on the festival. In 1990, at the beginning of the breakup of Yugoslavia, the festival ceased to exist. New wave in Yugoslavia ( sr-Cyrl-Latn, Нови талас, Novi talas; hr, Novi val; sl, Novi val; mk, Нов бран) was the new wave music scene of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. As its counterparts, the British and the American new wave, from which the main influences came, the Yugoslav scene was also closely related to punk rock, ska, reggae, 2 Tone, power pop and mod revival. Some of its acts are also counted as belonging to the Yugoslav punk scene which already existed prior to new wave. Such artists were labeled as both punk rock and new wave (the term "new wave" was initially interchangeable with "punk"). Overview The Non-Aligned socialist Yugoslavia was never part of the Eastern Bloc and it was open to western influences (the West to some extent even supported Yugoslavia as a " buffer zone" to the Warsaw Pact).
