Pervomaiske, Pokrovsk Raion, Donetsk Oblast
Pervomaiske ( uk, Первомайське) is a village located in the suburbs of Donetsk, in the Pokrovsk Raion of the Donetsk Oblast. The population is 2,208. The governing body is the Pervomaiske Silska Rada. Geography Pervomaiske is geographically located in the historical and economic Donbas region of eastern Ukraine. The village is located east of Karlivka, north of Nevelske, south of Tonenke and north-west of Pisky. The elevation is 169 meters. History The village was founded in the second half of the XIX century. During the war in Donbas, in 2014, the village was close to the center of fighting at the Donetsk Sergey International Airport. It was shelled multiple times by Donetsk People's Republic militants near Pisky and Spartak. On March 25, 2015, unknown persons toppled a monument to Vladimir Lenin in the village. The Battle of Avdiivka is an ongoing military engagement between the Russian Armed Forces and Donbas Separatist Forces on one side and the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the other. Avdiivka (, , is a city of regional significance in Ukraine's Donetsk Oblast. The city is in the center of the region, just north of the city of Donetsk. The large Avdiivka Coke Plant is located in Avdiivka. The city's population is officially estimated as ; in January 2017, BBC News estimated that the population ranged between 16,000 and 22,000. Vodiane or Vodyane (Ukrainian: Водяне) is a small village located in Pokrovsk Raion, Donetsk Oblast. In 2001, the population was 319 persons and the elevation is 177m. Up until 2020, the village was part of the Yasynuvata Raion, until it was merged into the Pokrovsk Raion. Yasynuvata Raion ( uk, Ясинуватський район, ) was one of the administrative raions (a ''district'') of Donetsk Oblast, located in southeastern Ukraine. The administrative center of the district was the city of Yasynuvata, which was incorporated separately as a city of oblast significance and did not belong to the districts jurisdiction. The raion was abolished on 18 July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Donetsk Oblast to eight, of which only five were controlled by the government.
