Perversion For Profit
''Perversion for Profit'' is a 1963 Eastmancolor propaganda film financed by Charles Keating through Citizens for Decent Literature and narrated by news reporter George Putnam. The film argues that sexually explicit materials corrupt young viewers and readers, leading to acts of violence and "perverted" attitudes regarding sex—including inclination toward homosexuality. Although ''Perversion for Profit'' was serious in its suggestion that pornography could erode the integrity of American culture, Peter L. Stein of the ''San Francisco Chronicle'' wrote in a 2003 review that it was "shrill and sometimes comical". Today, ''Perversion for Profit'' is in the public domain, and it has become popular on the Prelinger Archives website and on YouTube. As Peter L. Citizens For Decent Literature
Citizens for Decent Literature was a pro-censorship advocacy body founded in 1956 in Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio by the Roman Catholic anti-pornography campaigner Charles Keating which advocated reading classics, not "smut". Many priests were also involved in this organization. It was later renamed a number of times to various names, the best known of which was Citizens for Decency through Law. It would grow to 300 chapters and 100,000 members nationwide and become the largest anti-pornography organization in the nation. Over the following 20 years the organization mailed some 40 million letters on behalf of its position and had filed ''amicus curiae'' briefs. Under the name Citizens for Decency through Law, the CDL was still active as of 2002, although it did not have a website. ''TCM Underground'' is a weekly late-night cult film showcase airing on Turner Classic Movies. Developed by former TCM marketing director Eric Weber, it was originally hosted by industrial rock/ heavy metal musician and independent filmmaker Rob Zombie. ''A Study of History'' is a 12-volume universal history by the British historian Arnold J. Toynbee, published from 1934 to 1961. It received enormous popular attention but according to historian Richard J. Evans, "enjoyed only a brief vogue before disappearing into the obscurity in which it has languished." Robert Silverberg
Robert Silverberg (born January 15, 1935) is an American author and editor, best known for writing science fiction. He is a multiple winner of both Hugo and Nebula Awards, a member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame, and a Grand Master of SF. He has attended every Hugo Awards ceremony since the inaugural event in 1953. Biography Early years Silverberg was born to Jewish parents in Brooklyn, New York.
