Peru International Series
The Peru International Series or Perú Future Series is an international open badminton tournament in Peru, established since 2015, organized by the Federación Deportiva Peruana de Bádminton, sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation and Badminton Pan Am. This tournament was held for the first time from 19 to 22 February 2015 at the Polideportivo 2, Centro de Alto Rendimiento, Villa Deportiva Nacional, in Lima. The tournament is the second grade of the international tournament in Peru after the Peru International, and in 2018 the tournament downgraded to BWF Future Series event. Badminton
Badminton is a racquet sport played using racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" (with one player per side) and "doubles" (with two players per side). Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity in a yard or on a beach; formal games are played on a rectangular indoor court. Points are scored by striking the shuttlecock with the racquet and landing it within the opposing side's half of the court. Each side may only strike the shuttlecock once before it passes over the net. Play ends once the shuttlecock has struck the floor or if a fault has been called by the umpire, service judge, or (in their absence) the opposing side. The shuttlecock is a feathered or (in informal matches) plastic projectile which flies differently from the balls used in many other sports. Airi Mikkelä
Airi Mikkelä (born 5 April 1993) is a Finnish badminton player. She started playing badminton at 8 years old, then in 2009, she joined Finnish national badminton team. In 2010, she participated at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore. In 2014, she won Iceland International tournament in women's singles event. In 2015, she became the runner-up of Mauritius and Mexico international tournament. In 2016, she won Peru International Series and became the runner-up of Iceland International tournament. Osleni Guerrero
Osleni Guerrero Velazco (born 18 October 1989) is a Cuban badminton player. He is the first Cuban badminton player to win a medal in the Pan American Games. Guerrero also competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Career Guerrero, born in Havana, started competing in badminton in 2000, and joined the national team in 2005. As a junior player he won the under-19 category at the 2007 Pan Am Junior Badminton Championships held at Puerto Vallarta, Mexico where he beat first seed Howard Shu of the USA, 21–13, 21–10 in the final. Guerrero won a bronze medal in the men's singles event at the 2015 Pan Am Games, losing the semi-final to Canadian Andrew D'Souza. In the 2011 Pan American Games he made history, reaching the final and a silver n Am Games medal for Cuba at badminton for the first time. Tahimara Oropeza
Taymara Oropesa Pupo (born 6 December 1995) is a Cuban badminton player. Career Oropeza started playing badminton at aged 14. She actually playing tennis since she was eight. She made the change because her mother asked her to find another sport where she was less exposed to the sun. In 2014, she competed at the Central American and Caribbean Games and she won gold in the mixed doubles event and two bronze medals in the women's doubles and mixed team events. In 2015, she participated at the Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada. She won the mixed doubles event at the Giraldilla International tournament in 2014 and 2017 with different partner. Daniel La Torre Regal
Daniel la Torre Regal (born 20 August 1997) is a Peruvian badminton player. Career In 2015, he was the mixed doubles runner-up at the South America U-19 Championships and also at the Colombia International tournament with Daniela Macías. In 2017, he teamed-up with Dánica Nishimura, started their success by becoming the runner-up at the Peru International Series. The duo won their first title together at the Carebaco International.
