Perth Glory Football Club is an Australian professional soccer club based in Perth, Western Australia. It competes in the country's premier women's competition, A-League Women. The team was established in 2008, with the founding of the new league. History Establishment After Australia reached the quarter-finals of the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup for the first time, head coach Tom Sermanni felt the establishment of a professional league was vital for continuing the development of players. Perth Glory was one of eight teams included in the establishment of the league the following year by Football Federation Australia. Ownership and team management Perth Glory is owned by Tony Sage. During the team's inaugural season, the women's team was managed by Nicola Williams who improved to be a top–four performing side in the second half of the season. Macedonia Park, Perth
Macedonia Park is a multi-use stadium in Perth, Western Australia. It is mainly used for soccer and is the home ground for Stirling Macedonia. The stadium has a capacity of 5,000 people, however capacity will be capped at 4,500 for the 2022–23 A-League season. The ground was developed by the Macedonian Community of Western Australia in the mid-1980s after receiving federal government grants from the Hawke government. The stadium was built in conjunction with adjoining community facilities. Macedonia Park was officially opened in 1986, with Stirling Macedonia hosting Adelaide City in the first round of the 1986 NSL Cup in front of a crowd of 5,000. In 1994, Perth Kangaroos IFC played matches during the first half of the 1994 FAS Premier League season at Macedonia Park, before financial difficulties and poor crowds forced the club to move to Dorrien Gardens. Collette Gardiner (; born 26 March 1986) is an Australian retired footballer who played as a midfielder, earning over 80 caps for the Australian national team. She last played for Perth Glory in the Australian W-League. Playing career Born in Scotland, McCallum emigrated to Australia with her family at the age of four. She played for Pali Blues in the American USL W-League in 2008. Following her debut game for the Blues, she was selected for the W-League team of the week as a result of scoring two goals against Ventura County Fusion. Sofia Sakalis (born 11 July 2002) is an Australian soccer player currently playing for Perth Glory in the A-League Women. She has represented Australia in the Australia U-17 and Australia U-20. Rylee Ann Baisden (born April 16, 1994) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a forward for Perth Glory in the A-League Women. Early life Baisden grew up in Orange County, California and went to school in Los Angeles. Pepperdine University Baisden attended college at Pepperdine University. Club career After her college career, Baisden went to play briefly in Sweden and played for a year in France. Natasha Rigby is an Australian soccer player who plays for the Perth Glory in the W-league. Rigby grew up in Margaret River, a small town south of Perth.
