Persimmon plc is a British housebuilding company, headquartered in York, England. The company is named after a horse which won the 1896 Derby and St. Leger for the Prince of Wales (the future Edward VII). It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index. History Persimmon was founded by Duncan Davidson in 1972. After leaving George Wimpey, Davidson had formed Ryedale Homes in 1965, selling it to Comben Homes in 1972 for £600,000. John Laing Group plc is a British investor, developer and operator of privately financed, public sector infrastructure projects such as roads, railways, hospitals and schools through Public-Private Partnership (PPP) and Private Finance Initiative (PFI) arrangements. Jeff Fairburn
Jeffrey Fairburn (born 22 May 1966) is a British businessman, currently chief executive of Berkeley DeVeer, a Yorkshire-based house-builder. Fairburn was previously CEO of Persimmon plc, a British housebuilding company and constituent of the FTSE 100 Index, from April 2013 to November 2018. In March 2017, he agreed to give a "substantial portion" of a £75 million bonus to charity, but, as of February 2021, no charitable involvement has been confirmed (however, in British law, private philanthropy without fundraising does not require the status of being a registered charity). Nicholas Wrigley
Nicholas Hugh Tremayne Wrigley (born 22 March 1955) is a British merchant banker and businessman, and the former chairman of Persimmon plc. Early life Wrigley was born on 22 March 1955, and educated at Harrow School. He is a chartered accountant. Career Wrigley was a non-executive director at the merchant bank N M Rothschild & Sons until November 2008, and had a thirty years career with the bank, rising to managing director of investment banking. From 2009 to June 2014, Wrigley was senior steward (effectively chairman) of the Jockey Club, succeeding Julian Richmond-Watson. After serving a five-year term, he was succeeded by Roger Weatherby. Newquay ( ; kw, Tewynblustri) is a town on the north coast in Cornwall, in the south west of England. Westbury (housebuilder)
Westbury plc was a British housebuilding company based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. It was listed on the London Stock Exchange and was a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index but was acquired by Persimmon plc in 2005. History Westbury was established by the Joiner family in Gloucestershire in 1964. Westbury remained a very small operation until 1971 when Geoff Hester was recruited to run the business: from then on Westbury was managed by professional housebuilders from outside the Joiner family. After the 1974 housing recession, there was a period of regional expansion and by the early 1980s there were three regions, Gloucester, Bristol and south Wales, building around 1500 units a year between them.
