Perry Township is one of the fourteen townships of Lawrence County, Ohio, United States. As of the 2020 census the population was 6,533. Geography Located in the southern part of the county along the Ohio River, it borders the following townships: * Lawrence Township - north * Fayette Township - east * Upper Township - west Across the Ohio River from Perry Township is the mouth of the Big Sandy River, which forms the border between Boyd County, Kentucky, to the west and Wayne County, West Virginia, to the east. It is located in the middle of Lawrence County's Ohio River townships. The farthest southern point of Perry Township is occupied by part of the village of South Point, the second-largest municipality in Lawrence County, and a tiny part of Coal Grove extends into western Perry Township. Upper Township is one of the fourteen townships of Lawrence County, Ohio, United States. As of the 2020 census the population was 14,451. Geography Located in the southwestern part of the county along the Ohio River, it borders the following townships: * Elizabeth Township - north * Lawrence Township - east * Perry Township - southeast * Hamilton Township - west Kentucky lies across the Ohio River to the southwest: Boyd County to the south, and Greenup County otherwise. It is located downstream of most of the rest of Lawrence County's Ohio River townships. Coal Grove is a village in Lawrence County, Ohio, United States, along the Ohio River. The population was 2,165 at the 2010 census. It borders the city of Ironton and lies across the Ohio River from Ashland, Kentucky. It is linked to Ashland by the Ben Williamson Memorial Bridge and Simeon Willis Memorial Bridge. Coal Grove is a part of the Huntington-Ashland, WV-KY-OH, Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). As of the 2000 census, the MSA had a population of 288,649. History Coal Grove was once known as "Petersburg" or "Petersburgh." Its name has also been spelled "Coalgrove." South Point is a village in Lawrence County, Ohio, United States, along the Ohio River. South Point straddles Perry Township and Fayette Township. The population was 3,958 at the 2010 census.
