Perrine Laffont
Perrine Laffont (born 28 October 1998) is a French mogul skier and the 2017 Dual Moguls world champion and moguls silver medalist. She won the gold medal at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in the moguls event, and was back-to-back overall winner of the FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup in the 2018–19 and 2019–20 seasons. Mogul Skiing
Mogul skiing is a freestyle skiing competition consisting of one timed run of free skiing on a steep, heavily moguled course, stressing technical turns, aerial maneuvers and speed. Internationally, the sport is contested at the FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships, and at the Winter Olympic Games. Moguls are a series of bumps on a piste formed when skiers push snow into mounds as they do sharp turns. This tends to happen naturally as skiers use the slope but they can also be constructed artificially. Once formed, a naturally occurring mogul tends to grow as skiers follow similar paths around it, further deepening the surrounding grooves known as troughs. Since skiing tends to be a series of linked turns, moguls form together to create a bump field. The term "mogul" is from the Bavarian/Austrian German word ''Mugel'', meaning "mound, hillock". The women's moguls event in freestyle skiing at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia took place on the 6 February (first qualification) and 8 February (second qualification, semifinals, and final) at the Rosa Khutor Extreme Park in Krasnaya Polyana, Sochi. The defending Olympic and world champion was Hannah Kearney of the United States. Kearney returned to the podium, winning the 2014 bronze medal. Freestyle skiing at the 2022 Winter Olympics were held at the Genting Snow Park in Zhangjiakou and Big Air Shougang in Beijing, China. The events were held between 3 and 19 February 2022. A total of 13 freestyle skiing events were held. In July 2018, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) officially added three events to the Olympic program: big air for men and women, along with a mixed team aerials event. A total of 284 quota spots (142 per gender) were distributed to the sport, a decline of 4 from the 2018 Winter Olympics. A total of 13 events were contested, six for men, six for women and one mixed.
