Ian Perrie
Ian Perrie (born 9 April 1979, in Rhodesia) is an Australian rules footballer who played for the Adelaide Crows in the Australian Football League. Career After being drafted at pick number 49 in the 1997 AFL Draft, Perrie debuted for Adelaide in Round 13, 1998. In his early years, inaccurate kicking was his most troubled area, kicking 24.27 in his first two years. He was admired for his relentless effort which, coupled with his unorthodox kicking style. He was nominated for the AFL's 2000 AFL Rising Star award. In 2003, under the tutelage of an ageing recruit in Wayne Carey, Perrie scored an improved 26 goals, 16 behinds. He was an important member of Adelaide's McClelland Trophy-winning team in 2005, kicking a career-best 39 goals, with 31 behinds. Lynne Perrie
Lynne Perrie (born Jean Dudley; 7 April 1931 – 24 March 2006) was an English actress, singer and television personality, best known as Mrs Casper in Ken Loach's 1969 film '' Kes'', Mrs Petty in the television series '' Queenie's Castle'', and as Ivy Tilsley in ''Coronation Street''. Early life Perrie was the second of four children; a brother, Victor, died before she was born. Her younger brother was actor Duggie Brown. Perrie attended Rotherham Girls High School after passing her 11-plus. After leaving school, she trained as a dispenser at Boots. She later abandoned her studies to concentrate on her singing career. By the age of 14, she had started singing in working men's clubs under the stage name of 'Dizzy' with a local dance band for six shillings (6/-) (30p) on a Saturday night. Pierre "Perrie" Mans (born 14 October 1940) is a retired professional snooker player from South Africa, who first won the South African Professional Championship in 1965, and won the event 20 times. Mans won the Benson & Hedges Masters in 1979 and reached the final of the World Championship in 1978. Background Mans' father, Peter Mans, who died in 1975, was also a professional snooker player, making the quarter-finals of the 1950 World Snooker Championship. Snooker career Mans won the South African Amateur Championship in 1960, the only occasion in which he competed in the event. John Perie
John Perie VC (1831 – 17 September 1874) was a Scottish recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Details Perie was born in Gartly, north-west of Aberdeen on 7 April 1821. Perie was approximately 25 years old, and a sapper in the Royal Sappers and Miners, British Army during the Crimean War when the following deed took place for which he was awarded the VC. On 18 June 1855 during the Siege of Sevastopol, Sapper Perie showed conspicuous gallantry, with a lieutenant (Gerald Graham) in leading a ladder party at the assault on the Redan. He also volunteered to go with the lieutenant to help bring in a wounded sailor lying in the open, even though he was himself suffering from a musket wound in the side.
