Perri (film)
''Perri'' is a 1957 American adventure film from Walt Disney Productions, based on Felix Salten's 1938 '' Perri: The Youth of a Squirrel''. It was the company's fifth feature entry in their ''True-Life Adventures'' series, and the only one to be labeled a ''True-Life Fantasy''. In doing so, the Disney team combined the documentary aspects of earlier efforts with fictional scenarios and characters. Description The story's title character is a young female squirrel who learns about forest life, and finds a mate in Porro, a male squirrel. In the film, there are seasons called the Time of Learning, Time of Beauty, Time of Peace, and Together Time. The story of the film was directly inspired by Felix Salten's 1938 novel ''Die Jogend des Eichornchens Perri'', which Disney had secured the rights to in 1933. Ralph Waldo Wright (May 17, 1908 – December 31, 1983) was a Disney animator and story/storyboard writer who provided the gloomy, sullen voice of Eeyore from the popular ''Winnie the Pooh'' franchise. Biography Wright came to the studio in the 1940s, and became well known throughout the ensuing decades for his endearingly gloomy and sullen personality traits as well as his bass voice. He turned out to be a natural model for Eeyore when the studio began development on ''Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree''. He, along with his fellow Disney contemporaries, was a pioneer in the use of "gags" within cartoons, often acted out in front of the "story board," a bulletin board pinned with sequential sketches of the cartoon's scenes. Leonard Michael Maltin (born December 18, 1950) is an American film critic and film historian, as well as an author of several mainstream books on cinema, focusing on nostalgic, celebratory narratives. He is perhaps best known for his book of film capsule reviews, ''Leonard Maltin's Movie Guide'', published annually from 1969 to 2014. Early life Maltin was born in New York City, the son of singer Jacqueline ( née Gould; 1923–2012) and Aaron Isaac Maltin (1915–2002), a lawyer and immigration judge.
