Charles Perrault
Charles Perrault ( , also , ; 12 January 1628 – 16 May 1703) was an iconic French author and member of the Académie Française. He laid the foundations for a new literary genre, the fairy tale, with his works derived from earlier folk tales, published in his 1697 book ''Histoires ou contes du temps passé'' (''Stories or Tales from Past Times''). The best known of his tales include ''Le Petit Chaperon Rouge'' ("Little Red Riding Hood"), ''Cendrillon'' ("Cinderella"), ''Le Maître chat ou le Chat botté'' ("Puss in Boots"), ''La Belle au bois dormant'' ("Sleeping Beauty"), and ''Barbe Bleue'' ("Bluebeard"). Some of Perrault's versions of old stories influenced the German versions published by the Brothers Grimm more than 100 years later. Olivier Perrault
Olivier Perrault (July 21, 1773 – March 19, 1827) was a seigneur, lawyer, judge and political figure in Lower Canada. He was also sometimes known as Jean-Baptiste-Olivier Perrault. He was born Jean-Olivier Perrault at Quebec City in 1773, the son of Jacques Perrault, and studied at the Petit Séminaire de Québec. He articled in law and qualified to practise in 1799. Serge Perrault (1920 – 13 March 2014) was a French ballet dancer and teacher. Biography Born Serge Leplat in Paris in 1920, he was the half-brother of the dancer Lycette Darsonval. He trained at the Paris Opera School alongside Lucette Almanzor, the second wife of writer Louis-Ferdinand Céline. He attended the ballet corps of the opera from 1943 to 1947. During the occupation of France during the Second World War, Perrault avoided the ''Service du travail obligatoire'' by seeking refuge with Gen Paul and Céline. He performed the role of the Toreador in ''Carmen'' by Roland Petit in London in 1949. He danced with stars like Michel Renaud, Lycette Darsonval, and Yvette Chauviré. Raymond Joseph Perrault, (February 6, 1926 – November 24, 2008) was a Canadian politician. He was a member of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia and of the Senate of Canada. Perrault was born in Vancouver, British Columbia a family with strong Liberal roots. His maternal grandfather came from Ontario and enlisted to quell the Metis rebellion led by Louis Riel. His paternal grandfather came from Quebec, where Riel had been a hero. Perrault was educated at Sir Guy Carleton school and John Oliver high school in Vancouver. After graduating from the University of British Columbia with degrees in economics and political science, he became a communications consultant, working in radio, public relations and advertising. Pierre Perrault (c. 1608, in Paris – 1680, in Paris) was a Receiver General of Finances for Paris and later a scientist who developed the concept of the hydrological cycle. He and Edme Mariotte were primarily responsible for making hydrology an experimental science. Life Perrault grew up in a bourgeois family, had at least seven siblings, and probably lived all his life in Paris. Little is known about his life, despite the fame of some of his younger brothers. These include Claude, an architect of part of the Louvre Palace; Nicholas, a doctor of theology known for his denunciation of the Jesuits; and Charles, author of ''Tales of Mother Goose''. Pierre Perrault (29 June 1927 – 24 June 1999) was a Québécois documentary film director. He directed 20 films between 1963 and 1996. He was one of the most important filmmakers in Canada, although largely unknown outside of Québec. In 1994 he was awarded the Prix Albert-Tessier. ''Pour la suite du monde'' (1963), ''The Times That Are (Le Règne du jour)'' (1967), and ''The River Schooners (Les Voitures d'eau)'' (1968) make up his critically acclaimed L'Isle-aux-Coudres Trilogy. His nickname "Triple P" is short for Pascal "Poison" Perrault, a reference to his other profession as a pharmacist.
