Perng Shaw-jiin
Perng Shaw-jiin (; born 28 February 1957) is a Taiwanese lawyer and politician. Education and early career Perng majored in law at National Taiwan University, before earning an LL.M from Soochow University and a doctorate of law from the University of Munich. He taught law at Soochow and Ming Chuan University and worked for the Taoyuan Public Prosecutor's Office in the early 1990s. Political career Perng was first named to the Legislative Yuan in 1996, and stabbed by gang members his first year in office. He ran for Taoyuan County Magistrate in 2001, losing to Eric Chu. Perng returned to the Legislative Yuan from 2005 to 2008, before stepping down. The election of Chiu Ching-chun Chiu Ching-chun (; born 8 December 1949) is a Taiwanese politician. Eric Chu
Eric Chu Li-luan (; born on 7 June 1961) is a Taiwanese politician. He was born into a political family with strong Kuomintang (KMT) ties, and served as Vice Premier of the Republic of China, under Premier Wu Den-yih. Prior to this, Chu served as legislator (1999 to 2001) and as the magistrate of Taoyuan City, Taoyuan County (2001 to 2009). He was elected as the first mayor of the newly established city of New Taipei on 27 November 2010. On 17 January 2015, he was elected unopposed as Chairman of the Kuomintang, succeeding Ma Ying-jeou. On 17 October 2015, he was chosen as KMT candidate for the 2016 Republic of China general election, 2016 presidential election replacing incumbent candidate Hung Hsiu-chu. Chu was defeated by his opponent Tsai Ing-wen, and subsequently resigned his post as KMT chairman. He was succeeded as mayor of New Taipei by Hou You-yi in 2018. Hsinchu (, Chinese: 新竹, Hanyu Pinyin, Pinyin: ''Xīnzhú'', Wade–Giles: ''Hsin¹-chu²'') is a Provincial city (Taiwan), city located in northwestern Taiwan. It is the most populous city in Taiwan Province not among the Special municipality (Taiwan), special municipalities, with estimated 450,655 inhabitants.
