Per Samuelshaug
Per Samuelshaug (26 August 1905 – 4 January 1990) was a Norwegian cross-country skier from Alvdal who participated at the 1936 Winter Olympics. He won the 50 km race at the Holmenkollen ski festival in 1937. He represented the club Alvdal IL Alvdal Idrettslag is a Norwegian sports club from Alvdal, founded in 1902. Alvdal is a municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Østerdalen. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Alvdal. Other villages include Barkald, Plassmoen, and Strømmen. The municipality is located to the south of Tynset, north and west of Rendalen, north of Stor-Elvdal, and east of Folldal. The Rørosbane railway and the Norwegian National Road 3 both pass through Alvdal. The municipality is the 124th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Competitive cross-country skiing encompasses a variety of race formats and course lengths. Rules of cross-country skiing are sanctioned by the International Ski Federation and by various national organizations. International competitions include the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, the FIS Cross-Country World Cup, and at the Winter Olympic Games.
