Per Ravn Omdal
Per Ravn Omdal (born 20 August 1947) is a former president of the Football Association of Norway. He's also been the vice president of UEFA since 1996. Per Ravn Omdal has represented Norwegian football with distinction for a number of years within the world and European football movement. A football enthusiast since his childhood, he has been a particularly important figure in football's drive to bolster the game's grassroots. Honorary president Omdal was born on 20 August 1947 in Stavanger. He became a UEFA vice-president in 1996, having joined the Executive Committee as a member in 1992. His work within the Football Association of Norway (NFF) over the years—he also served as NFF president for two terms—led to him being bestowed with the title of honorary president. The Norwegian Football Federation ( nb, Norges Fotballforbund, nn, Noregs Fotballforbund; NFF) is the governing body of football in Norway. It was formed in 1902 and organises the men's and women's national teams, as well as the league systems for men and women (whose top levels are respectively the Eliteserien and Toppserien). The current president of NFF is Lise Klaveness. By 1 January 2004, there were 1,814 clubs organized in Norway and 373,532 registered players. It is the largest sports federation in Norway. The NFF joined FIFA in 1908, and UEFA in 1954. The NFF was part of an unsuccessful joint bid with the SvFF, the DBU and the SPL to host the UEFA Euro 2008 championship. Roald Jensen (11 January 1943 – 6 October 1987), nicknamed "Kniksen", of Bergen, Norway was one of that country's most celebrated association football players. He played for SK Brann and Heart of Midlothian F.C. ("Hearts"). ''Knicksen'' is a local Bergen word meaning "juggler". Jensen was born in Bergen. From an early age, he was interested in football. He made his Brann senior-team debut in 1960, while still only 17. He made his debut on the national team the same year. Brann, with Jensen, won the league in 1961-62 and in 1963. After Brann's relegation in 1964, Jensen transferred to professional football in Scotland as Heart of Midlothian's first non-British player. While he was in Scotland, Jensen was unable to play for Norway, as the national team did not allow professional players at that time.
