Pequot Lakes Public Schools, also known as ISD 186, is a school district headquartered in Pequot Lakes, Minnesota. In addition to Pequot Lakes its attendance area includes Breezy Point, Jenkins, most of Crosslake, a portion of Lake Shore, and a portion of Nisswa. History Chris Lindholm became superintendent in 2013. In 2021 Lindholm narrated a video called "The Rural Reveal" which he talked about socioeconomic issues. He apologized after the video had a negative reception. In May 2021 Lindholm took a position as superintendent of the Cook County School District, and the Pequot Lakes board accepted his resignation. Pequot Lakes ( ) is a city in Crow Wing County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 2,162 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Brainerd Micropolitan Statistical Area. History Pequot Lakes was platted in March 1900. It was named by a postal official for the first Indian-sounding name he thought of, which is the name of a former tribe of Algonquian Indians in eastern Connecticut. A post office was established at Pequot Lakes in 1896. According to thPequot Lakes Heritage Preservation Commission the city once called Sibley and Frogtown was renamed as Pequot. In 1900, Walter and Flora Brown filed their plat for the E 1/2 of the SW 1/4 section 10 in T136N-R29W under the title Pequot. The Pequot Indians are a tribe that used to dominate southeastern New England before the English colonists arrived. Breezy Point, Minnesota
Breezy Point is a city in Crow Wing County, Minnesota, United States. It is part of the Brainerd Micropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 2,346 at the 2010 census. History The city of Breezy Point is best known for being the home to a resort of the same name on land acquired in 1921 by millionaire publicist Wilford Fawcett, owner of Fawcett Publications, and creator of the famous ''Whiz Bang'' magazine. His personal home, Fawcett House, is on rental to the public. With the resort community growing as a result of Fawcett's actions, a village was incorporated in 1939 with the name of Pelican Lakes. Jenkins is a city in Crow Wing County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 430 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Brainerd Micropolitan Statistical Area. History A post office called Jenkins has been in operation since 1895. The city was named for George W. Jenkins, a local lumberman. Crosslake is a city in Crow Wing County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 2,141 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Brainerd Micropolitan Statistical Area. Nisswa ( ) is a city in Crow Wing County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,971 at the 2010 census. Nisswa is part of the Brainerd Micropolitan Statistical Area, near Gull Lake. Pequot Lakes High School
Pequot Lakes High School (PLHS) is a 912 high school located a few blocks west of Minnesota State Highway 371 towards the southern end of the city of Pequot Lakes, Minnesota, United States. The school was built at its present location in 1976, and the music wing in the front of the building was completed in 2004. PLHS is the only high school in the Pequot Lakes School District (ISD 186) which includes Pequot Lakes and the surrounding communities of Breezy Point, Crosslake, Jenkins, Ideal Township and parts of northern Nisswa (the majority of Nisswa is in the Brainerd School District).
