The Arizona Complex League Mariners are a Rookie-level affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, competing in the Arizona Complex League of Minor League Baseball. The team plays its home games at Peoria Sports Complex in Peoria, Arizona. The team is composed mainly of players who are in their first year of professional baseball either as draftees or non-drafted free agents. History The team first competed in the Arizona League (AZL) in 1988, as a cooperative between the Seattle Mariners and the Boston Red Sox known as the Arizona League Red Sox/Mariners. In 1989, the team became an affiliate solely of the Mariners, and was renamed as such. The team has operated continuously in Arizona since then. Arizona Complex League
The Arizona Complex League (ACL) is a rookie-level Minor League Baseball league that operates in and around Phoenix, Arizona, since 1988. Prior to 2021, it was known as the Arizona League (AZL). Along with the Florida Complex League (FCL), it forms the lowest rung on the North American minor-league ladder. ACL teams play at the minor league spring training complexes of their parent Major League Baseball (MLB) clubs and are owned by those parent clubs. Admission is not charged and no concessions are operated at the teams' games. Every Cactus League team fields at least one team in the league. Night games are commonly played in the spring training stadium, although games may also be played at the team's practice fields. As of the 2021 season, there is no league limit to how many players can be on an active roster, but no team can have more than three players with four or more years of minor-league experience. Orlando Martínez Oliva (August 23, 1941 – March 8, 2007) was a utility player, manager, coach and scout in Major League Baseball. Listed at 6' 0" , 170 lb. , Martínez was a switch-hitter and threw right-handed. Born in Havana, Cuba, Martínez was nicknamed Marty by fans and teammates. Wilson Delgado Durán (born July 15, 1972 in San Cristobal, Dominican Republic) is a former professional baseball player who played shortstop in the major leagues from -. Career Delgado was originally signed in 1992 by the Seattle Mariners, but was traded in 1995 with Shawn Estes to the San Francisco Giants for Salomón Torres. Delgado made his debut with the Giants in 1996 and played with them through 1999, compiling a .259 average over 124 plate appearances. In March 2000, Delgado was traded again, this time to the New York Yankees for Juan Melo. Delgado played in 31 games for the Yankees, before being traded in August to the Kansas City Royals for Nick Ortiz.
