People Are Bunny is a 1959 Warner Bros. ''Merrie Melodies'' cartoon, directed by Robert McKimson The short was released on December 19, 1959, and stars Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. ''People Are Bunny'' spoofs the Art Linkletter show ''People are Funny'' (where people performed different "stunts" to win money) where the parody of Art Linkletter is voiced by Daws Butler. It was also the last Bugs Bunny cartoon released in the 1950s. Plot Watching TV, Daffy Duck is excited by an episode of the hunting show called "The QTTV Sportsman Hour" in which the host, voiced by Mel Blanc somewhat in the manner of actor Frank Nelson, offers $1,000.00 for the first viewer to bring a rabbit to Station QTTV. Robert McKimson
Robert Porter McKimson Sr. (October 13, 1910 – September 29, 1977) was an American animator and illustrator, best known for his work on the ''Looney Tunes'' and '' Merrie Melodies'' series of cartoons from Warner Bros. Cartoons and later DePatie–Freleng Enterprises. He wrote and directed many animated cartoon shorts starring Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Foghorn Leghorn, Hippety Hopper, and The Tasmanian Devil, among other characters. He was also well known for defining Bugs Bunny's look in the 1943 short ''Tortoise Wins by a Hare''. Career Born in Denver, Colorado, McKimson spent ten years gaining an art education at the Lukits School of Art. Arthur Gordon Linkletter (born Gordon Arthur Kelly or Arthur Gordon Kelly; sources differ; July 17, 1912 – May 26, 2010) was a Canadian-born American radio and television personality. He was the host of ''House Party'', which ran on CBS radio and television for 25 years, and ''People Are Funny'', which aired on NBC radio and television for 19 years. He became a naturalized United States citizen in 1942. Old clips from Linkletter's ''House Party'' program were later featured as segments on the first incarnation of ''Kids Say the Darndest Things''. A series of books followed which contained the humorous comments made on-air by children. He appeared in four films. Early life Linkletter was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. ''A Star Is Bored'' is a 1956 Warner Bros. ''Looney Tunes'' cartoon, directed by Friz Freleng. The short was released on September 15, 1956, and stars Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. The cartoon expands upon the rivalry depicted between Bugs and Daffy, in such films as Chuck Jones' 1951 short ''Rabbit Fire'', this time placing the action in a show-biz setting. In this 7-minute short, Daffy must double for Bugs in ''any'' slapstick that Warners deems too dangerous for its top star. After each disaster, Daffy shouts "MAKEUP!". The director directing the scenes has an Erich Von Stroheim accent. In the cartoon, Bugs faces off with the French-Canadian claim jumper Blacque Jacque Shellacque during a fictionalized version of the Klondike Gold Rush. Plot Set in 1896 in Dawson City, Yukon, Canada, Bugs Bunny walks into the saloon with a bag full of gold nuggets. Bugs has no use for these yellow rocks, admitting that he confused "karats" with the vegetable when he traveled to the area (having actually heard about the Klondike Gold Rush). In the film, Bugs volunteers for an appearance in a television show hosted by Elmer. He is unaware that this is a show about hunting techniques, and he volunteered to become a hunter's prey. ''Masquerade Party'' was an American television game show. During its original run from 1952 to 1960, the show appeared at various times on every television network except DuMont (ABC, NBC, and CBS). A syndicated revival was produced for one season in 1974–75. The gameplay consisted of a panel of celebrities attempting to guess the identity of a celebrity who was disguised with heavy make-up and/or a costume. The disguise would provide clues as to the celebrity's actual identity. For example, actor Gary Burghoff appeared in 1974 as a robot with a radar, alluding to his role as Radar O'Reilly on ''M*A*S*H''. The panel asked yes-or-no questions of the disguised celebrity, after which they were given another clue.
