People's Progressive Party (Nepal)
The People's Progressive Party ( ne, जनता प्रगतिशील पार्टी) is a political party in Nepal. Although the party's primary base is still in Terai Madhesh area of Madhesh Province and Lumbini Province, it has tried to expand to a pan-Nepalese base. The party was officially announced on 14 December 2021. Hridayesh Tripathi is the coordinator of the party. History 2017 elections As of August 2021, the party members had filled their candidacy as an Independent political group in the 2017 Nepalese general election. They used ''sun'' as their election symbol, as a part of agreement/alliance between CPN (UML) and the group. Brijesh Kumar Gupta And Hridayesh Tripathi won as member of the House of Representatives. Similarly, Ajay Shahi and Dharma Lal Shrivastava won as candidate in the provincial assembly elections to the Provincial Assembly of Lumbini Province. Hridayesh Tripathi
Hridayesh Tripathi ( ne, हृदयेश त्रिपाठी) is a Nepalese politician, belonging to the People's Progressive Party. He's also the current chairman of the party. A former Minister of Health and Population Tripathi has worked several terms as minister under the government of Nepali Congress and CPN (UML). Early life and education Tripathi was born in Nawalparasi to Harishankar Triphati and Kunti Devi. He completed his secondary education in Palpa and studied political science at the Institute of Oriental Studies in the Soviet Union. Political career He started his political career in Communist Party of Nepal (Rayamajhi). He contested the 1986 Rastriya Panchayat elections but failed to get elected. 2017 Nepalese General Election
General elections were held in Nepal in two phases on 26 November and 7 December 2017 to elect the 275 members of the fifth House of Representatives, the lower house of the Federal Parliament of Nepal. The election was held alongside the first provincial elections for the seven provincial assemblies. Daman Nath Dhungana is a Nepali politician and former house speaker. He played an instrumental role during the Nepal peace process between 2003 and 2009. His role as the first house speaker after the establishment of constitutional monarchy, in 1990, is considered exemplary. He returned to active politics in 2017 after a gap of 23 years.
