People's Liberation Army Air Force Female Band
The People's Liberation Army Air Force Female Band () is a Chinese female amateur military band that is part of the PLA Air Force. The band was established in 1996 as an 8-member marching band. Today, it currently is composed of 56 musicians and part of the PLAAF Communications Branch. Despite being a female oriented band, in recent years it has also included male soldiers in its ranks to try and make it more pan-PLAAF. Activities The band has since 1999 had a presenceat the National Day Parade on 1 October, with its drum major serving as one of the deputy directors of the joint-military band during the military parade. It has, over 300 times, participated in events such as military tattoos within and outside the People's Republic of China on behalf of the PLAAF. The band has participated in social events like the Vietnam Youth Friendship Meeting or the China-Africa Youth Festival. A military band is a group of personnel that performs musical duties for military functions, usually for the armed forces. A typical military band consists mostly of wind and percussion instruments. The conductor of a band commonly bears the title of Bandmaster or Director of Music. Ottoman military bands are thought to be the oldest variety of military marching bands in the world, dating from the 13th century. The military band is capable of playing ceremonial and marching music, including the national anthems and patriotic songs of not only their own nation but others as well, both while stationary and as a marching band. Jiangxi Province
Jiangxi (; ; formerly romanized as Kiangsi or Chianghsi) is a landlocked province in the east of the People's Republic of China. Its major cities include Nanchang and Jiujiang. Zhurihe Training Base
The Zhurihe Training Base (), also called the Zhurihe Combined Tactics Training Base, is a People's Liberation Army (PLA) base in Inner Mongolia, China, founded in 1957. The largest military base in China, Zhurihe covers , has its own hospital, and for over 60 years has hosted multiple mock training areas for conducting urban war games. General Secretary and Chairman Xi Jinping commemorated the 90th anniversary of the PLA with a military parade at Zhurihe. The PLA has called Zhurihe their "most modernized training base" and say it is the largest in Asia. Comparisons have been made between Zhurihe and Fort Irwin in California, United States. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization Military Tattoo (Chinese: 上海合作组织军乐节; Russian: Шанхайская организация сотрудничества Военная фестиваль) also known as the SCO Military Tattoo is an annual military music event and military tattoo organized by the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. The musical groups that usually participate in the festival annually are the bands of SCO member states as well as SCO observer states. The People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF; ), also known as the Chinese Air Force (中国空军) or the People's Air Force (人民空军), is an aerial service branch of the People's Liberation Army, the regular armed forces of the People's Republic of China.
