People's Front (Canada)
The People's Front was the British Columbian section of the Communist Party of Canada (Marxist–Leninist). The leader of the People's Front was Charles Boylan. In the 2001 British Columbia election, it nominated 11 candidates, received a total of 720 votes (0.34% of the vote in the ridings in which they ran, and 0.05% of the province-wide vote). The PF candidates ran last in all but one of 11 ridings, and no candidate won more than 1% of the popular vote. The party nominated five candidates for the 2005 election. They won a total of 383 votes (0.02% of the province-wide vote). Port Moody
Port Moody is a city in British Columbia, Canada, and a member municipality of the Metro Vancouver Regional District. It envelops the east end of Burrard Inlet and is the smallest of the Tri-Cities, bordered by Coquitlam on the east and south and by Burnaby on the west. The villages of Belcarra and Anmore, along with the rugged Coast Mountains, lie to the northwest and north, respectively. It is named for Richard Clement Moody, the first lieutenant governor of the Colony of British Columbia. History The Coast Salish people were the first to live in this area, and archaeology confirms continuous occupation of the territory for at least 9,000 years. Vancouver-Point Grey
Vancouver-Point Grey is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia, Canada. It was first contested in the general election of 1933. It was created out of parts of Richmond-Point Grey, South Vancouver and Vancouver City. The riding began as a three-member seat, and was reduced to a two-member seat in 1966 when Vancouver-Little Mountain was created. In the redistribution preceding the 1991 election, it was reduced to a one-member riding along with the other older urban ridings, as several new one-member ridings were created. Many prominent politicians have been elected as members, including three British Columbia premiers, Liberals Christy Clark and Gordon Campbell, and New Democrat incumbent premier David Eby. Comox Valley was a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia, Canada. Most of it is now in Courtenay-Comox. Since the 1986 BC general election, the riding had been a bellwether, having voted consistently for a governing MLA. Yale-Lillooet
Yale-Lillooet was a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia, Canada. It first appeared in the 1966 General Election, when it superseded the older Lillooet riding, which was one of the province's original twelve ridings, as well as the equally old Yale riding, parts of which were also in Yale-Lillooet. Yale-Lillooet was last contested in the 2005 General Election; in 2009 it was largely replaced by Fraser-Nicola, with the Fraser Canyon portions in the southwest transferred to Chilliwack-Hope and the town of Keremeos in the extreme southeast transferred to Boundary-Similkameen. Vancouver-Burrard
Vancouver-Burrard was a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia, Canada. It first appeared on the hustings in the 1933 general election and included the neighbourhoods of Kitsilano and Fairview. This version of the riding was abolished in 1979, and its territory was divided between Vancouver-Point Grey, Vancouver-Little Mountain, and Vancouver Centre. In 1991, a new Vancouver-Burrard was established, containing the western half of the former Vancouver Centre. For the 2009 election, the riding was split across two new ridings. The portion west of Burrard, Georgia, and Jervis became the new Vancouver-West End riding. The remainder of Vancouver-Burrard joined part of Vancouver-Fairview to become the new Vancouver-False Creek riding.
