Russian Locomotive Class TE2
The TE2 (; ) is a class of Soviet diesel-electric locomotives built by Malyshev Factory in Kharkiv, Ukraine, from 1948 to 1955. It is nominally a two-unit version of class TE1 but is very different in appearance. While the TE1 is a Co-Co hood unit, the TE2 is a Bo-Bo+Bo-Bo cab unit. Powertrain Each of the two units is powered by a Penza D50 4-stroke 6 cylinder supercharged diesel engine and has four DC traction motors. Production Prototypes were built in 1948 and 1949 and series production ran from 1950 to 1955. A total of 528 pairs was built.Rakov (1995), p. 379-381. Each pair carried a single number in the range 001 to 528. Preservation A TE2-414 is preserved at the Museum of Railway Technology, Saint Petersburg. TE4 The TE4 was an experimental modification of a TE2, designed to run on solid fuel by using a producer gas system. The gas generator was mounted on a four-axle non-powered unit, placed between the TE2 power units, making a wheel arrangement of Bo-Bo+2-2+Bo-Bo ...

TEM2
TEM2 (russian: link=no, ТЭМ2) is a Soviet diesel-electric shunting locomotive. The locomotive was used throughout the Soviet Union and was exported to Poland and Cuba. History The locomotive can be seen as a descendant of the DA units imported under Lend-Lease during World War II; TEM1 units were produced between 1958 and 1968 as the evolution of the DA units (which were American ALCO RSD-1 designs). 2000 TEM1 units were built as part of a "serious attempt at ending steam shunting". TEM2 is an upgraded version of the TEM1, with 883 kW of power and the same tractive effort as the TEM1, but with an increased speed and a reduced weight. The first prototypes appeared at the Bryansk factory in 1960, with several pilot batches of locomotives built before full production began in 1967. TEM2 was built in both Bryansk and Lugansk until 1987. TEM2 has several subtypes, indicated by suffixes: M (modernized braking), U (improved braking) and T (electric dynamic braking). Usage T ...

Manufacturing Companies Established In 1948
Manufacturing is the creation or production of goods with the help of equipment, labor, machines, tools, and chemical or biological processing or formulation. It is the essence of secondary sector of the economy. The term may refer to a range of human activity, from handicraft to high-tech, but it is most commonly applied to industrial design, in which raw materials from the primary sector are transformed into finished goods on a large scale. Such goods may be sold to other manufacturers for the production of other more complex products (such as aircraft, household appliances, furniture, sports equipment or automobiles), or distributed via the tertiary industry to end users and consumers (usually through wholesalers, who in turn sell to retailers, who then sell them to individual customers). Manufacturing engineering is the field of engineering that designs and optimizes the manufacturing process, or the steps through which raw materials are transformed into a final product. T ...

Locomotive Engine Manufacturers
A locomotive or engine is a rail transport vehicle that provides the motive power for a train. If a locomotive is capable of carrying a payload, it is usually rather referred to as a multiple unit, motor coach, railcar or power car; the use of these self-propelled vehicles is increasingly common for passenger trains, but rare for freight (see CargoSprinter). Traditionally, locomotives pulled trains from the front. However, push-pull operation has become common, where the train may have a locomotive (or locomotives) at the front, at the rear, or at each end. Most recently railroads have begun adopting DPU or distributed power. The front may have one or two locomotives followed by a mid-train locomotive that is controlled remotely from the lead unit. __TOC__ Etymology The word ''locomotive'' originates from the Latin 'from a place', ablative of 'place', and the Medieval Latin 'causing motion', and is a shortened form of the term ''locomotive engine'', which was first us ...

Penza ( rus, Пе́нза, p=ˈpʲɛnzə) is the largest city and administrative center of Penza Oblast, Russia. It is located on the Sura River, southeast of Moscow. As of the 2010 Census, Penza had a population of 517,311, making it the 38th-largest city in Russia. Etymology The city name is a hydronym and means in mdf, Пенза, Penza, end of swampy river () from ''pen'' 'end of (Genetive)' and ''sa(ra)'' 'swampy river' Geography Urban layout This central quarter occupies the territory on which the wooden fortress Penza was once located, therefore it is sometimes called the Serf. The architectural concept of the old fortress, erected on the eastern slope of the mountain above the river, predetermined the direction of the first streets. The direction and location of the first streets were set by the passage towers of the fortress and the orientation of its walls. This is how the first six streets of the city were formed. Subsequently, the names were fixed to them: Govern ...

Engine Manufacturers Of Russia
An engine or motor is a machine designed to convert one or more forms of energy into mechanical energy. Available energy sources include potential energy (e.g. energy of the Earth's gravitational field as exploited in hydroelectric power generation), heat energy (e.g. geothermal), chemical energy, electric potential and nuclear energy (from nuclear fission or nuclear fusion). Many of these processes generate heat as an intermediate energy form, so heat engines have special importance. Some natural processes, such as atmospheric convection cells convert environmental heat into motion (e.g. in the form of rising air currents). Mechanical energy is of particular importance in transportation, but also plays a role in many industrial processes such as cutting, grinding, crushing, and mixing. Mechanical heat engines convert heat into work via various thermodynamic processes. The internal combustion engine is perhaps the most common example of a mechanical heat engine, in which hea ...
