Penta DB
Penta DB was an engine model produced by AB Pentaverken. The 1929 introduced engine was a side-valve engine with a cast-iron block and seven main bearings, and the first straight-6 engine used in Volvos. Four other variants followed after. These engines powered all six-cylinder Volvo passenger cars and taxi cabs, as well as the company's small trucks between 1929 and 1958. Volvo PV800 Series
The Volvo PV800 Series (nicknamed the Volvo Sugga, literally the '' Sow'') is a taxicab manufactured by Volvo from 1938 until 1958. The Sow series dominated the Swedish taxicab market during the 1940s and 1950s. Volvo Cars has a long reputation as a maker of inline (or straight) engines. This list of Volvo engines gives an overview of available internal combustion engines. Volvo Brage
The Volvo Brage/Starke/Raske was a series of medium size trucks produced by Swedish automaker Volvo between 1954 and 1972. Volvo Brage In 1954 Volvo introduced the medium-sized truck L370 Brage, named after the Norse god Bragi. The truck had a payload of 4.5 tonnes. Brage had an overhead valve petrol engine. In 1955 a budget model called L360 was added. It had a reduced payload of 3.5 tonnes and a side-valve engine. The L360, which was never called Brage, was discontinued in 1957. Early trucks had a non-synchronized four-speed gear box, but this was soon replaced by a synchronized five-speed transmission. Wood Gas
Wood gas is a fuel gas that can be used for furnaces, stoves, and vehicles. During the production process, biomass or related carbon-containing materials are gasified within the oxygen-limited environment of a wood gas generator to produce a combustible mixture. In some gasifiers this process is preceded by pyrolysis, where the biomass or coal is first converted to char, releasing methane and tar rich in polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. In stark contrast with synthesis gas, which is almost pure H2/CO mixture, wood gas ''also'' contains a variety of organic compound ("distillates") that require scrubbing for use in other applications. Depending on the kind of biomass, a variety of contaminants are produced that will condense out as the gas cools. Volvo LV81-series
The Volvo LV80/90-series was a medium size truck produced by Swedish automaker Volvo between 1935 and 1940. History Volvo presented a new medium-sized truck in 1935. The truck was available in two versions: the smaller LV80-series, with a side-valve engine and the larger LV90-series, with an overhead valve engine. On this generation of trucks the engine and cab was moved forward so that the engine was mounted above the front axle, not behind as before. The Volvo LV101-112, or the Sharpnose was a light truck produced by Sweden, Swedish automaker Volvo between 1938 and 1950. History In 1938 Volvo presented its light LV101-series truck, affectionately known as the "Sharpnose". At the same time Volvo introduced the taxicab Volvo PV800 Series, PV800. The two models series shared engine, radiator cover and Hood (vehicle), bonnet. The smallest model LV101 was mechanically almost identical to the taxicab, while the larger LV102 was a “genuine” truck. Volvo PV51
The Volvo PV51 is a car introduced by Volvo in December 1936. It was replaced by the mildly restyled PV53 in 1938. This car remained in production until the end of the Second World War.
