Penrith F.C.
Penrith Association Football Club is a football club based in Penrith, Cumbria, England. They play in the Northern Football League Division One. History Founded in 1894. They originally joined the North Eastern League in 1907–08, and are currently members of the Northern League Division One. The club joined the Northern League in 1947, spending 35 years in that competition until moving to the North West Counties League in 1982. A five-season spell in that league (including finishing as league runners-up in their first season) saw them in a position to join the Northern Premier League when they expanded to form a second division in 1987. The move to the NPL did not prove successful, and by 1990 they were relegated back to the North West Counties League, where they stayed for seven seasons before returning once more to the Northern League, fifteen years after originally leaving that league. Penrith, Cumbria
Penrith (, , ) is a market town and civil parish in the county of Cumbria, England, about south of Carlisle. It is less than outside the Lake District, Lake District National Park, in between the Rivers River Petteril, Petteril and River Eamont, Eamont and just north of the River Lowther. It had a population of 15,181 at the 2011 Census. Historic counties of England, Historically in Cumberland, Penrith's current local authority, local authorities are the Eden, Cumbria, Eden District Council, which is based in the town, and Cumbria County Council. North West Counties League
The North West Counties Football League is a football league in the North West of England. Since 2019–20, the league has covered the Isle of Man, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, Cumbria, northern Staffordshire, northern Shropshire, the far west of West Yorkshire, and the High Peak area of Derbyshire. In the past, the league has also hosted clubs from North Wales such as Caernarfon Town, Colwyn Bay and Rhyl. As from season 2018–19 the league increased from two, to three divisions: the Premier Division, at level nine (Step 5 in the NLS) in the English football league system, and two geographically separate Division Ones, North and South, at level ten (Step 6 in the NLS). The Football Association Challenge Vase, usually referred to as the FA Vase, is an annual football competition for teams playing in Steps 5 and 6 of the English National League System (or equivalently, tier 9 or 10 of the overall English football league system). For the 2017–18 season 619 entrants were accepted, with two qualifying rounds preceding the six proper rounds, semi-finals (played over two legs) and final to be played at Wembley Stadium. The Football Association Challenge Trophy, commonly known as the FA Trophy, is a men's football knockout cup competition run by and named after the English Football Association and competed for primarily by semi-professional teams. The competition was instigated in 1969 to cater to those non-league clubs that paid their players and were therefore not eligible to enter the FA Amateur Cup. Eligibility rules have changed over time, but from 2008 onwards the competition has been open to clubs playing in Steps 1–4 of the National League System, equivalent to tiers 5–8 of the overall English football league system. The 1981–82 FA Cup was the 101st season of the world's oldest football knockout competition, The Football Association Challenge Cup, or FA Cup for short. The competition culminated with the FA Cup Final, held at Wembley Stadium, London on 22 May 1982.
