Penrhyndeudraeth Football Club ( cy, Clwb Pêl-Droed Penrhyndeudraeth, also abbreviated Penrhyn) is a football (soccer), football team, playing in the North Wales Coast West Football League Premier Division. The club was re-formed in 1981 and plays their home fixtures at Maes Y Parc, Penrhyndeudraeth. History ''Clwb Pêl-Droed Penrhyndeudraeth / Penrhyndeudraeth Football Club'' Although football is believed to have been played in Penrhyndeudraeth as far back as the 1900s, and then by a team known as Penrhyndeudraeth Rovers in the 1910s, there are no real records for that period. Competitive football in Penrhyndeudraeth can, however, be traced back to the 1930s, with the team of the village's Cooke's Explosive Works team, Cooke's United FC, being involved in the Lleyn & District League during the 1937–38 and 1938–39 seasons, then in the Lleyn Peninsula League after the 2nd World War during the 1946–47 and 1947–48 seasons. Penrhyndeudraeth
Penrhyndeudraeth (; ) is a small town and community in the Welsh county of Gwynedd. The town is close to the mouth of the River Dwyryd on the A487 nearly east of Porthmadog, and had a population of 2,150 at the 2011 census, increased from 2,031 in 2001. The community includes Minffordd and Portmeirion. History An older settlement of a few cottages at Upper Penrhyn was originally called ''Cefn Coch'' ('Red Ridge') and that name is perpetuated by the Penrhyndeudraeth primary school, which is known as Ysgol Cefn Coch; but the town proper is comparatively modern. The ground on which it stands was a malarial swamp encircling a huge stagnant pool. The present town owes its existence as a commercial centre to a local landowner, David Williams of Castell Deudraeth near Minffordd, who in the mid-19th century drained the swamp and dried the pool and constructed many streets.
