Penrhyn Avenue
Penrhyn Avenue is a cricket ground in Colwyn Bay, Wales. The ground was first used by the Glamorgan County Cricket Club, Glamorgan 1st XI in 1966, although County Championship matches have only been an annual fixture since 1990 (with the exception of 1991 and 1996). In 2015, the ground hosted a County Championship match against Lancashire County Cricket Club, Lancashire, during which Lancashire batsmen Ashwell Prince and Alviro Petersen put on a ground record partnership of 501 for the third wicket. The ground was most recently used by Glamorgan in 2019 for a County Championship match, against Lancashire County Cricket Club, Lancashire. A proposed game in 2022 was moved to Cardiff, although Glamorgan hope to return to the ground for a match in 2023. Rhos-on-Sea
Rhos-on-Sea ( cy, Llandrillo-yn-Rhos) is a seaside resort and community in Conwy County Borough, Wales. The population was 7,593 at the 2011 census. It adjoins Colwyn Bay and is named after the Welsh kingdom of Rhos established there in late Roman Britain as a sub-kingdom of Gwynedd. It later became a ''cantref'' (hundred). Declaration And Forfeiture
In the sport of cricket, a declaration occurs when a captain declares his team's innings closed and a forfeiture occurs when a captain chooses to forfeit an innings without batting. Declaration and forfeiture are covered in Law 15 of the ''Laws of Cricket''. This concept applies only to matches in which each team is scheduled to bat in two innings; Law 15 specifically does not apply in any form of limited overs cricket. Cricket Grounds In Glamorgan
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Durham County Cricket Club (rebranded as Durham Cricket in February 2019) is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. Adrian Dale
Adrian Dale (born 24 October 1968) is a former South African cricketer, right-handed batsman, and right-arm medium-pace bowler who scored over 12,500 first-class runs and took over 200 first-class wickets. He played exclusively for Glamorgan, playing with the team between 1989 and 2004. His only other first-class games were when he was selected to tour South Africa with England A in 1992. Adrian was born in South Africa but raised in Wales. In 2001 his wife gave birth to Jessica Dale followed by Luke John Dale (2002) and Georgia (2006). While with Glamorgan, he won the Young Player of the Year award in 1991, a year before winning a cap for his county. Tony Cordle
Elton Anthony Cordle (born September 21, 1940 in Bridgetown) is a former Barbadian first-class cricketer who played in Wales for Glamorgan. Cordle moved to the United Kingdom during the 1960s and found a job working for London Transport. He then travelled to Cardiff where his siblings were living and signed up for their local cricket club before being picked up by Glamorgan. He made his first class debut in 1963, becoming the county's first ever overseas fast bowler and cemented his spot in the side by 1967 after managing 74 wickets at 21 during the season. He was a member of their Championship winning side in 1969 and took his career best figures that season of 9 for 49 against Leicestershire. Steve James (cricketer)
Stephen Peter James (born 7 September 1967) is an English journalist and former cricketer who played two Test matches for England in 1998, making 71 runs in four innings. James was captain of Glamorgan for three seasons before retiring in 2003 after 17 seasons with the club, aged 35. He played a total of 245 first-class matches, making 15,890 runs at a batting average just above 40, with a total of 47 centuries and a highest score of 309 not out against Sussex in 2000which is the Glamorgan record highest score. In cricket, a batter is not out if they come out to bat in an innings and have not been dismissed by the end of an innings. The batter is also ''not out'' while their innings is still in progress. Occurrence At least one batter is not out at the end of every innings, because once ten batters are out, the eleventh has no partner to bat on with so the innings ends. Usually two batters finish not out if the batting side declares in first-class cricket, and often at the end of the scheduled number of overs in limited overs cricket. Minor Counties Cricket Championship
The NCCA 3 Day Championship (previously the Minor Counties Cricket Championship) is a season-long competition in England and Wales that is contested by the members of the National Counties Cricket Association (NCCA), the so-called national counties that do not have first-class status.
