Rome Township is a township in Bradford County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is part of Northeastern Pennsylvania. The population was 1,191 at the 2010 census. Geography Rome Township is located in northeastern Bradford County and is bordered by Litchfield and Windham townships to the north, Orwell Township to the east, Wysox Township to the south, and Sheshequin Township to the west. The borough of Rome is surrounded by Rome Township but separate from it. Pennsylvania Route 187 follows the valley of Wysox Creek through the southeast portion of the township and Rome borough. The unincorporated community of North Rome is located near the western border of the township. Wyalusing is a borough in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. It is part of Northeastern Pennsylvania. The population was 596 as of the 2010 census. History The history of Wyalusing dates back centuries. It was originally known as ''M'chwihilusing''. The Moravian Christian Munsees for several years had a settlement Friedenshuetten (Tents of Peace) in what is now Wyalusing. Before 1750, the settlement was known as ''Gahontoto'' and was home to the Tehotachsee tribe of Native Americans. This small tribe would eventually be completely wiped out by the Cayuga tribe. In 1792, the chief of the Cayugas and approximately 20 other families rebuilt the town. In the 19th century, the town began to prosper as it became a shipping area for logs and other items on the Susquehanna River. Warren Township is a township in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. It is part of Northeastern Pennsylvania. The population was 959 at the 2010 census. History The first Euro-American settlers in the township bought tracts of land beginning in the 1790s and moved into a forested wilderness from their New England homes. The Providence, Rhode Island-based company Brown & Ives was a major player in recruiting settlers, especially to the southern half of the town. Parley Coburn represented the company's interests for nearly 40 years, until his death in 1860. He was proud of the fact that at his death he had finally sold the last of the lots. Towanda is a borough and the county seat of Bradford County in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. It is part of Northeastern Pennsylvania and is located northwest of Wilkes-Barre, on the Susquehanna River. The name means "burial ground" in the Algonquian language. As of the 2020 census, the population of Towanda was 2,833. History Towanda was settled in 1784 and became the county seat in 1812. It was variously known for some years as Meansville, Overton, Williamson, Monmouth and Towanda, and incorporated in 1828. Towanda was once known primarily for its industrial interests, which included flour, planing and silk mills, a foundry and machine shop, dye works, and manufacturers of talking machines, cut glass, toys and furniture. Geography Terry Township is located in southeastern Bradford County and is bordered by Wilmot Township to the southeast, Albany Township to the west, and Asylum Township to the northwest.
