Penetrator (album)
''Penetrator'' is the eighth studio album by American rock musician Ted Nugent. It was released in January 1984 by Atlantic Records. "Tied Up in Love" was made into a promo clip to support the album. It reached No. 56 on the ''Billboard'' 200 albums chart. The song "(Where Do You) Draw the Line", written by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance, was originally recorded by Adams for his hit 1984 album '' Reckless'' but was left off the final track list. Adams' version eventually saw a release on the 30th anniversary reissue of ''Reckless''. The cover art is a section of the painting "Dragon Tattoo" by Boris Vallejo. Reception In a largely negative review, John Franck of AllMusic proclaimed ''Penetrator'' to be "one of Nugent's most underwhelming releases". Ted Nugent
Theodore Anthony Nugent (; born December 13, 1948) is an American rock musician and activist. He initially gained fame as the lead guitarist and occasional lead vocalist of The Amboy Dukes, a band formed in 1963 that played psychedelic rock and hard rock. After dissolving the band, he embarked on a successful solo career. His first three solo albums, ''Ted Nugent'' (1975), ''Free-for-All'' (1976) and ''Cat Scratch Fever'' (1977), were certified multi-platinum in the United States. His latest album, ''Detroit Muscle'', was released in 2022. Nugent is known for his Gibson Byrdland, his bluesy and frenzied guitar playing, and his energetic live shows. Despite possessing a distinctive, wide-ranging singing voice, Nugent recorded and toured with other lead singers during much of his early solo career, including Derek St. Holmes, Charlie Huhn, Brian Howe and Meat Loaf, only taking on full lead vocal duties later on. ''Classic Rock'' is a British magazine and website dedicated to rock music, owned and published by Future. It was launched in October 1998 and is based in London. The magazine publishes 13 editions a year, mainly covering rock bands from the 60, 70s, 80s and 90s, with the likes of Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Queen, Black Sabbath, Aerosmith and Deep Purple amongst its most prominent cover stars. Robert C. Ludwig (born c. 1945) is an American mastering engineer. He has mastered recordings on all the major recording formats for all the major record labels, and on projects by more than 1,300 artists including Led Zeppelin, Lou Reed, Queen, Jimi Hendrix, Bryan Ferry, Paul McCartney, Nirvana, Bruce Springsteen and Daft Punk resulting in over 3,000 credits. Tod Howarth
Tod Howarth (born September 24, 1957) is an American rock musician from San Diego, California. He is best known as serving as a keyboardist, a guitarist, and vocalist for the melodic hard rock group Frehley's Comet, led by former Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley. The band recorded three albums and produced four music videos before the line-up ultimately dissolved, with Frehley moving back to solo efforts. Howarth's music career began in the early 1980s with the group 707. He has also performed with Cheap Trick and Ted Nugent and released four solo albums, the first in 1995. He also provided background vocals for Nugent's '' Penetrator'' album in 1984, and Loudness' album '' Hurricane Eyes'' in 1987. Peter Wolf (born March 7, 1946) is an American musician best known as the lead vocalist of the J. Geils Band from 1967 to 1983 and as a solo artist. Early life and education Peter Wolf was born Peter Walter Blankfield on March 7, 1946 in The Bronx, New York City, New York, New York (state), New York. He attended the High School of Music & Art, located in west Harlem, Manhattan, near the Apollo Theater. Brian Howe (singer)
Brian Anthony Howe (22 July 1953 – 6 May 2020) was an English rock singer, best known for replacing Paul Rodgers as the lead vocalist of Bad Company. Howe's career was jump-started in 1983 when Ted Nugent recruited him to handle lead vocals for his '' Penetrator'' album and front its subsequent world tour. Early career Howe was born in Portsmouth in 1953. He sang with a local band called Shy who had one minor hit single in the UK but he quickly quit, seeking a harder rock band. He had a brief stint with the NWOBHM group White Spirit, having replaced their recently departed singer Bruce Ruff. However, the group quickly collapsed, and Howe never recorded an album with them. A sole cut, "Watch Out", surfaced on Neat Records' ''60 Minutes Plus'' cassette compilation in 1982, also issued on vinyl as ''All Hell Let Loose'' by Neat in conjunction with Italy's Base Records label in 1983. Andrew McIan Fraser (3 July 1952 – 16 March 2015) was a British musician and songwriter, best known as the bassist and co-composer for the rock band Free, which he helped found in 1968 when he was 15. He also founded the rock band Sharks after Free disbanded 1972.
