Pendikspor is a Turkish sports club based in Pendik, Istanbul. The club's homeground is the ''Pendik Stadium''. The football team is widely known for their upsetting 2-1 victory over Fenerbahçe, in the 3rd round of the Turkish Cup (then Fortis Turkey Cup) on 14 December 1999. Pendikspor would relegate the same season from the TFF First League. Pendik
Pendik is a district of Istanbul, Turkey on the Asian side between Kartal and Tuzla, on the Marmara Sea. Home to Sabiha Gökçen International Airport. Population is 711,894. It also neighbours Sultanbeyli, Sancaktepe and Çekmeköy from northwest, Şile from north and Gebze from northeast. History There are records of settlements in Pendik going back to 5,000 years ago, a Greek settlement in 753 BC, and many more conquests. In 1080, the town was taken over by the Seljuk Turks, and recaptured by the Byzantines in 1086 and so on. During the Byzantine era, the place was called Pantikion or Pentikion, and before that Pantikap on in Greek (as the town had five walls, or five gates, or both). Pendik was always a retreat from the city, and by the 20th century was peppered with holiday and weekend homes of Istanbul's wealthy. It was part of Kartal district till 1987. Ferhat Öztorun (born 8 May 1987) is a Turkish professional footballer who plays as a defender for Pendikspor. Club career After playing several years for Galatasaray's youth teams, Öztorun was promoted to first team squad for the 2005–06 season. After Orhan Ak and Ergün Penbe, who were the squad's experienced left backs, experienced injuries, Öztorun made his debut in a league match between Konyaspor and Galatasaray in Konya on 22 January 2006. Oğulcan Çağlayan (born 22 March 1996) is a Turkish footballer who plays as a forward for Pendikspor on loan from Galatasaray. He made his Süper Lig debut on 14 February 2014. Club career Gaziantepspor Oğulcan Çağlayan played 15 games with Gaziantepspor since 2013 and scored 2 goals.
