Brian Leeds (born April 20, 1991), better known by the pseudonyms Pendant, Huerco S., Loidis, and Royal Crown of Sweden, is an American independent electronic musician. He is considered a pioneer in the genre of outsider house, a more experimental and lo-fi form of deep house. His recent work has abandoned outsider house in favour of an ambient sound. Emporia, Kansas
Emporia is a city in and the county seat of Lyon County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 24,139. Emporia lies between Topeka and Wichita at the intersection of U.S. Route 50 with Interstates 335 and 35 on the Kansas Turnpike. Emporia is also a college town, home to Emporia State University and Flint Hills Technical College. ''For Those of You Who Have Never (And Also Those Who Have)'' is the second studio album from American electronic musician Brian Leeds under the pseudonym Huerco S. and was released by Proibito Records on June 6, 2016. ''Pitchfork'' listed the album among their top 50 ambient albums of all time, and top 200 albums of the 2010s. Production ''For Those of You Who Have Never...'' was produced by Brian Leeds under the pseudonym "Huerco S." in his Brooklyn apartment. The album is a work of ambient music, which was a stylistic departure from his first album, the more rhythmic and techno oriented ''Colonial Patterns'' (2013). He decided to stop using external samples as in his earlier work, seeking new ways to express himself. Outsider house (originally spawned as outsider dance, also known as raw house) is a genre of house music combining elements of deep house, techno, noise, and ambient, with artists embracing lo-fi techniques rather than the polished cleanliness of mainstream deep house and other EDM genres. The term "outsider dance" was first coined in 2012 by DJ Ben UFO and emphasized by music journalist Scott Wilson, referring to different producers and record labels "operating at the fringes of the fringes" such as Laurel Halo, Anthony Naples.
