Waypoint Media is a confederation of holding companies that own and operate radio and television stations mostly in small cities in the United States. Primary owners of the various companies include Mike Reed, William Christian and Paige Christian (William's wife). History Vision Communications and Sound Communications Waypoint Media was originally owned by Reed. The Christians had previously operated as Vision Communications and Sound Communications (which operate television and radio stations respectively in Western New York and the Southern Tier). In February 2014, the station announced the acquisition of the remains of Pembrook Pines Media Group, which includes the Cattaraugus County-based cluster of WMXO/WOEN in Olean and WQRS/ WGGO in Salamanca. The station's studios are located on Mayfair Road in Hattiesburg, and its transmitter is located on Old Highway 11/Norton Road in unincorporated Lamar County south of US 98. History The station signed on June 15, 2005, as WHPM-LP carrying religious programming on analog UHF channel 30. It shut-down that signal and switched to digital channel 23 in 2009. The station is owned by Trinity Media, Ltd. 1000 AM is a United States and Mexican clear-channel frequency; WLNL must leave the air from sunset to sunrise to prevent interference with the nighttime skywave signal of WMVP in Chicago. The station, with its tower on Fourth Street in the village of Little Valley, broadcasts at 7,000 watts, effective radiated power (ERP). From 2010 to 2021, the Seneca Nation of New York operated the station as WGWE, carrying a locally originated classic hits format targeting the western Southern Tier; the station's signal gave strong coverage to both of the Seneca Nation's populated reservations as well as the cities of Dunkirk, Jamestown, Olean and Bradford, all within a 30-mile radius of Little Valley (such that the previous inhabitant of 105.9 in Jamestown, WOGM-LP, had to change frequencies to 104.7 to accommodate the new signal).
