Pembrokeshire Fish Week
Pembrokeshire Fish Week is an biannual food festival held in June and July that celebrates Pembrokeshire’s seafood, coastline, beaches, and maritime heritage. It has many events that take place across the county. Events During the festival there are over 250 events across the county with restaurants and pubs serving special menus, there are also cookery demonstrations, cookery classes, foraging events and educational activities. Guided walks, sea fishing trips, fishing competitions, kayaking and surfing events also take place. Economic impact Pembrokeshire Fish Week is a social enterprise that is supported by Pembrokeshire County Council and the port of Milford Haven. In 2014 the event brought £2.7m to the county’s economy with 150 businesses taking part and an attendance estimated at 32,000 people. Pembrokeshire County Council ( cy, Cyngor Sir Penfro) is the governing body for Pembrokeshire, one of the Principal Areas of Wales. Milford Haven
Milford Haven ( cy, Aberdaugleddau, meaning "mouth of the two Rivers Cleddau") is both a town and a community in Pembrokeshire, Wales. It is situated on the north side of the Milford Haven Waterway, an estuary forming a natural harbour that has been used as a port since the Middle Ages. The town was founded in 1790 by Sir William Hamilton, who designed a grid pattern. It was originally intended to be a whaling centre, though by 1800 it was developing as a Royal Navy dockyard which it remained until the dockyard was transferred to Pembroke in 1814. It then became a commercial dock, with the focus moving in the 1960s, after the construction of an oil refinery built by Esso, to logistics for fuel oil and liquid gas.
