Henry Tudor School (Welsh: ''Ysgol Harri Tudur'') is a co-educational school of 1500 students in Pembroke, Wales. Founded in 1972 as a result of the amalgamation of Pembroke Grammar School and Coronation Secondary Modern School, the Pembroke School offers education for the years 11–18. It is located on a single campus of that has views to the historic Pembroke Castle. The buildings date back to the 1950s, with extensions added in the 1960s and 1970s. A new wing housing science laboratories was completed in 2004. The school facilities includes science laboratories and a large hall. The school has also recently installed networked internet access and satellite technology. It is located next to Pembroke Leisure Centre, so the school uses these facilities for sports activities. In 2015, Pembrokeshire County Council announced plans to build a new school and vocational centre on the grounds of the existing school. Pembroke Castle
Pembroke Castle ( cy, Castell Penfro) is a medieval castle in the centre of Pembroke, Pembrokeshire in Wales. The castle was the original family seat of the Earldom of Pembroke. A Grade I listed building since 1951, it underwent major restoration during the early 20th century. In 1093, Arnulf of Montgomery built the first castle at the site when he fortified the promontory beside the Pembroke River during the Norman invasion of Wales. A century later, the castle was given by Richard I to William Marshal, who became one of the most powerful men in 12th-century Britain. He rebuilt Pembroke Castle in stone, creating most of the structure that remains today. The castle is open to the public and is the largest privately owned castle in Wales. Pembrokeshire County Council ( cy, Cyngor Sir Penfro) is the governing body for Pembrokeshire, one of the Principal Areas of Wales. Political control The first election to the council was held in 1995, initially operating as a shadow authority before coming into its powers on 1 April 1996. Dominic Day (born 22 August 1985) is a Welsh rugby union player. Early life Born in Haverfordwest, Day grew up in Lamphey, two miles east of Pembroke. He attended Pembroke School, where he participated in track and field, competing for Wales Schools as a discus thrower. Rugby playing career Day played rugby union at the age of eight, and at the age of 15 starting as a Number 8 before being moved to the second row. The PE teacher at Pembroke School, Neil Truman, recommended Day for the Pembrokeshire 'Elite' squad, and at the age of 18, he was invited to join the Scarlets' academy. Around the same time, he applied to the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC) to study for a degree in sports science.
