Pell Trenton (born William T. Baker; August 29, 1883 – March 3, 1924) was an actor in theater and Hollywood films during the silent film era. He was popular and had leading roles. Background Pell Trenton was born August 29, 1883, in New York City. He was in theater from 1910 and began in juvenile roles in film. In 1917 he was in ''Hamilton''. A headshot of Trenton is signed by him and Chamberlain Brown "manager". His career was cut short when he fell ill in 1921 and died on March 3, 1924, in Los Angeles from a pulmonary tuberculosis at the age of 40. ''The New Disciple'' is a 1921 American silent film directed by Ollie Sellers and produced by labor organization the Federal Film Corporation in Seattle, Washington. It was the most widely viewed labor film of this period, with over one million viewers in the year of its release. The film featured Alfred Allen, Norris Johnson, and Pell Trenton. The silent film included titles from Woodrow Wilson's 1913 '' New Freedom'' and told the story of a war veteran and a corrupt capitalist war profiteer. Ollie Sellers directed the anti-open shop film which was an indictment of the American plan. Promotions for the film called for union members to "wait" on their film exchanges to show the film. Film production was supervised by John Arthur Nelson who wrote the story which was published at the same time. William Piggott wrote the screenplay. The film was made in Los Angeles. ''The Willow Tree'' is a surviving 1920 American silent film directed by Henry Otto and distributed by Metro Pictures. The film is based on a Broadway play, ''The Willow Tree'', by J. H. Benrimo and Harrison Rhodes. Fay Bainter starred in the Broadway play in 1917. The film stars Viola Dana and is preserved in the George Eastman House Motion Picture Collection. Plot As described in a film magazine, O-Riu (Dana), daughter of a Japanese image-maker, rebels at his command that she marry a wealthy merchant in order to provide funds for her brother to attend an American college. Due to a coincidence, her flight is misinterpreted as a suicide, and her father sells to an Englishman living in the neighborhood his most prized image.
