Alexander Peli (1915–2007) was a Ukrainian-born Israeli encyclopedist, the supervising editor of the ''Encyclopaedia Hebraica''. The project began using his mother's publishing house in 1946 with Peli supervising. The last volume was published in 1996. Giora Peli (also Gyora Pilshchik; 21 August 1936 – July 2020) was an Israeli chess player. Biography From the second half of 1950s, Giora Peli was one of Israeli leading junior chess players. In 1954, he won Israeli Junior Chess Championship. In 1957, Peli participated for the first time in the Israeli Chess Championship and finished in 6th place. In 1965, he ranked 5th in this tournament, but in 1974, he ranked in 12th place. Lorenzo Peli (born 24 January 2000) is an Italian football player. He plays for club Pontedera on loan from Atalanta. Club career Atalanta Peli is a product of Atalanta youth teams and started playing for their Under-19 squad in the 2017–18 season. In the 2017–18 and 2018–19 seasons he was called up to the senior squad on several occasions, but did not make any appearances. Loan to Como He joined the newly-promoted Serie C club Como on loan in July 2019. He made his professional Serie C debut for Como in September 2019 in a game against Renate. Oren Peli ( he, אורן פלאי / אורן פלי; born January 21, 1970) is an Israeli film director, producer and screenwriter, known for directing the 2007 film ''Paranormal Activity''. Early life Peli was born in Ramat Gan, Israel, to a Jewish family. At the age of 19, he moved to the United States. Pinchas Hacohen Peli ( he, פינחס פֶּלִאי הכהן, 6 May 1930 – 3 April 1989) was an Israeli modern Orthodox Judaism, Orthodox rabbi, essayist, poet, and scholar of Judaism and Jewish philosophy. Early life He was born in Jerusalem, Israel in 1930 to a Hasidic family named Hacohen. At age 16, he started publishing poetry in the Israeli newspaper ''Davar''. He used the pen name "''Peli''" ("wonder") because he was afraid to use his real name, given that his family was a distinguished rabbinical family living in Jerusalem's ultra-Orthodox neighborhood of Mea Shearim.
