Pegasus (Efteling)
Pegasus was a wooden roller coaster located at the Efteling amusement park in the Netherlands. Designed by Curtis D. Summers and manufactured by the Dinn Corporation, the roller coaster opened to the public on July 1, 1991. History In an attempt to open prior to the grand opening of Disneyland Paris, the entire project was completed in seven months. Curtis D. Summers worked with the Dinn Corporation to design and manufacture the ride, which used southern yellow pine imported from the United States. Joris en de Draak (; English: ''George and the Dragon'') is a wooden racing coaster in the theme park Efteling, based on the legend of Saint George. History and details The dual-tracked roller coaster, built in the place of the 2009 demolished wooden coaster Pegasus, features two tracks, named 'Water' and 'Fire' respectively. A total of five Millennium Flyer trains with 12 cars each are used, although only four trains are used at once for maintenance purposes. Riders are arranged two across in a single row for a total of 24 riders per train, totaling a capacity of 1750 riders per hour. The attraction's theming, including a fire-breathing animatronic dragon, was designed by P&P Projects. Lift Hill
A lift hill, or chain hill, is an upward-sloping section of track on a roller coaster on which the roller coaster train is mechanically lifted to an elevated point or peak in the track. Upon reaching the peak, the train is then propelled from the peak by gravity and is usually allowed to coast throughout the rest of the roller coaster ride's circuit on its own momentum, including most or all of the remaining uphill sections. A wooden roller coaster is a type of roller coaster classified by its wooden track, which consists of running rails made of flat steel strips mounted on laminated wood. Efteling () is a fantasy-themed amusement park in Kaatsheuvel, the Netherlands. The attractions reflect elements from ancient myths and legends, fairy tales, fables, and folklore. Dinn Corporation was a roller coaster designing and manufacturing company established in West Chester Township, Butler County, Ohio, West Chester, Ohio, in 1983 by Charles Dinn. The company is noted for moving and rebuilding several existing wooden coasters and building ten new wooden roller coasters in the United States.
