Maarten Peeters
Maarten Peeters or Marten Peeters van Ghelle ( – 1566) was a Flemish painter, print publisher and dealer active in Antwerp. Peeters was born in Geel, Duchy of Brabant, around 1500. He was also called Martinus Petri, Merten Peters, and Marteen van Gheele. He moved to Antwerp, where he was active as a painter, print publisher and dealer. He was a member of the guild of traders (''Meerseniers'') in 1524/25. The following year he was reported as part of Antwerp's Guild of Saint Luke as a painter. He was the guild's dean in 1533, 1546, 1558. He was dean five times overall between 1533 and 1559. His son, Maarten II, was reported as ''wijnmeester'', i.e. son of a master. He was active as a publisher in the 1550s and 1560s. He was particularly interested in French and Italian art. He published plates after Francesco Primaticcio and works of Flemish artists influenced by the Italian style, and, among other things, republished nearly all the plates by Lucas van Leyden. Rob Peeters (born 2 July 1985) is a Belgian former professional racing cyclist, who primarily competed in the cyclo-cross discipline of the sport. In January 2012, he finished second at the UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships. He also competed in road bicycle racing, winning the mountains classification at the 2015 Ster ZLM Toer. Pete Peeters
Pete Peeters (born August 17, 1957) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. He was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the eighth round (135th overall) of the 1977 NHL amateur draft. and went on to play 13 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Philadelphia Flyers, Boston Bruins and Washington Capitals. Early life Peeters was born in a family of Dutch immigrants in Edmonton, Alberta. At a young age, he valued swimming more than hockey. It was not until he was 18 that Peeters was committed to junior hockey. In 1975, Peeters joined a struggling Medicine Hat Tigers team. He would stay with the Tigers for two years before being drafted. Peeters was drafted 135th overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 1977 NHL amateur draft after showing scouts that he had what it took to play at an NHL level. Maurice Peeters
Mouritius "Maurice" Prosper Peeters (5 May 1882 – 5 December 1957) was a track cyclist from the Netherlands, who represented his country at the two consecutive Summer Olympics (1920 and 1924). He was born in Antwerp, Belgium, but was raised in The Hague. He died in nearby Leidschendam. In 1920, Peeters became amateur world champion in track cycling. One day later he rode the Olympic 1000 m sprint, and of course he was considered a favourite. He lost in the first round, but his second place was enough to progress to the next round. He then won the quarter final and the semi-final. In the final, he rode against two British cyclists, Harry Ryan and Tiny Johnson. They tried to make use of their numerical advantage, and Ryan attacked, so that Peeters had to get him back. In the final corner, Johnson should came around the corner to win the race, but Peeters was ahead and kept his lead.
