Pedro Sánchez (district)
Pedro Sánchez is a municipal district of the Santa Cruz del Seibo municipality in the El Seibo province, Dominican Republic. It was founded in 1927 by the Dominican president Horacio Vásquez. Adventure and Ecotourism Pedro Sánchez is located in the ecological corridor of the eastern mountain range of the Dominican Republic. It is a small village of approximately 6500 inhabitants surrounded by rolling hills that hold the treasures of numerous natural attractions. The natural attractions include 2 large waterfalls (saltos), numerous swimming holes, and more than 20 caves where indigenous “Taino” Indians once lived. The locals are transforming the community into an environmentally conscious community that will offer adventure Ecotourism. Santa Cruz Del Seibo
Santa Cruz del Seibo or El Seibo, is a city and municipality in the El Seibo Province of the Dominican Republic, located in the eastern part of the country. History El Seibo is one of the oldest towns in the country, it was created by the Constitution of November 6, 1844 although it already existed as a territorial division since colonial times, for this reason its foundation dates back to 1502 by the Spanish conqueror Juan de Esquivel. The name of Seibo comes from a tribal chief of Taino race. The name of Santa Cruz del Seibo, is taken from the Spanish custom of placing the ''Cruz de Cristo'' (Holy Cross) in the cardinal points, as protection against evils. Municipalities Of The Dominican Republic
The municipalities of the Dominican Republic are, after the regions and the provinces, the third level of the political and administrative division of the Dominican Republic. Horacio Vásquez
Felipe Horacio Vásquez Lajara (October 22, 1860 – March 25, 1936) was a Dominican general and political figure. He served as the president of the Provisional Government Junta of the Dominican Republic in 1899, and again between 1902 and 1903. Supporters of Vásquez were known as Horacistas, as opposed to Jimenistas, supporters of Vásquez's main rival, Juan Isidro Jimenes. He ran for a full term as president in 1914, but lost to Jimenes. In 1888, Vásquez married Trina de Moya, a poet and writer from La Vega. Following the occupation of the Dominican Republic by U.S. military forces from 1916–1924, Vásquez was democratically elected as president of the country and served between 1924 and 1930, and again separately in 1930 before being ousted by General Rafael Trujillo and sent into exile in Puerto Rico.
