Pedrito el Drito is the title character of an Italian comic series created by Antonio Terenghi. Background One of the most enduring characters in the history of Italian comics, Pedrito el Drito was created by Terenghi in 1952, making his first appearances as a naive cowboy in the appendix to comic books ''Forza John!'' and ''Rocky Rider''.Luigi F. Antonio Terenghi
Antonio Terenghi (31 October 1921 – 26 October 2014) was an Italian comics artist. Born in Alano di Piave, Province of Belluno, to a humble family, Terenghi moved to Milan in his teens, where he started working as an apprentice for a grocer and a blacksmith. Very passionate about cartooning – he began drawing comics at eight years as an autodidact – in the late 1930s he started working as a lettering artist for the publishing house Dardo. At the outbreak of World War II, he was sent to fight in East Africa, where he was captured by British troops and spent seven years in detention. One back in Milan, he reprised his work in the comics industry, creating Jungle comics characters like Tarzanetto for the publishing house Universo and the magazine ''Corriere dei Piccoli''. ''Il Monello'' (meaning ''The Rascal'' in English) was a weekly comic magazine for kids and teens published in Italy from 1933 to 1990. History and profile ''Il Monello'' was founded in 1933 by the Del Duca brothers and initially offered only works by Italian cartoonists, introducing several American comic series just in 1936. ''Intrepido'' (Italian language, Italian for "Intrepid"), also referred to as ''L'Intrepido'', was a weekly comic magazine published by Casa Editrice Moderna between 1935 and 1998. History and profile The first issue was published on 23 February 1935. It was the first comics magazine to publish only comics by Italian artists; a few foreign comics were introduced in 1936, before disappearing in 1939. During the first phase in its history, the magazine got a large success with a series of comics inspired to 1800s feuilleton literature. After an interruption in 1943 due to World War II, it resumed its publications in April 1945, then continuing, without interruption, until January 1998. Corriere Dei Piccoli
The ''Corriere dei Piccoli'' (Italian for "Courier of the Little Ones"), later nicknamed ''Corrierino'' ("Little Courier"), was a weekly magazine for children published in Italy from 1908 to 1995. It was the first Italian periodical to make a regular feature of publishing comic strips. Publication history ''Corriere dei Piccoli'' was established in 1908. The first issue (24 pages, 80,000 copies) was published on 27 December 1908, with Silvio Spaventa Filippi as editor-in-chief. It was founded by Luigi Albertini. Lupo Alberto
Lupo Alberto ("Alberto the Wolf") is a famous Italian comic book series created by Guido Silvestri (Silver) in 1974. It details the adventures of Lupo Alberto, a blue wolf. The protagonist of the comic book, Lupo Alberto, takes the shape of the common man who has a goal in life and a certain amount of bad luck. Alberto, a resident of the McKenzie farm, always tries to steal a hen named Martha (who is his girlfriend), but Moses, a sheepdog, is the obstacle to his plans and does everything to stop him. The conflicts between Alberto and Moses were the subject of the first Comic strip, strips of the series.
