''Pebbles, Volume 10'' is a compilation album among the LPs in the Pebbles series. The music on this album has no relation to ''Pebbles, Volume 10 (CD), Pebbles, Volume 10'' that was released on CD many years later. Release data This album was the last of the Pebbles LP's to be released by BFD Records (as #BFD-5027), in 1980. The LP was kept in print for many years by AIP Records. Notes on the tracks The Five Americans are known for their hit song "Western Union". The Ides of March (band), The Ides of March had a quite different hit song several years after this track was recorded called "Vehicle" (referred to on the liner notes of this album as a "horn dirge"). The marvelous cover of "The Train Kept A-Rollin'" by Steve Walker & the Bold is played much faster than most other recordings of this classic. Garage Rock
Garage rock (sometimes called garage punk or 60s punk) is a raw and energetic style of rock and roll that flourished in the mid-1960s, most notably in the United States and Canada, and has experienced a series of subsequent revivals. Peter Wheat And The Breadmen
Peter Wheat and the Breadmen were an American garage rock band formed in Fremont, California, in 1964. The group became a popular live attraction regionally, and released one single that has since been reissued on compilation albums. History Peter Wheat and the Breadmen's origins trace back to a rock and roll group called the Night Caps which formed in Oakland in 1957. The band became regionally popular on the teen club circuit in Northern California, and released two singles on Amber Records that were composed of self-penned material by saxophonist Barry Carlos. After seven years of being billed as the Night Caps, the group decided during a rehearsal to change the name to better cater to the changing musical tastes of the pop culture. Jerry Corbetta
Jerry A. Corbetta (September 23, 1947 – September 16, 2016) was an American singer-songwriter, keyboardist and organist, record producer— best known as a frontman for the Colorado rock band Sugarloaf, best known for their classic rock hit “Green-Eyed Lady.” Corbetta also toured for nearly five years with Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons as the “fifth season” nicknamed “Guido” by Frankie Valli. Biography Corbetta was born on September 23, 1947 in Denver, Colorado. He began his career locally playing drums. As a teenager, he started playing keyboards and joined a few Denver-based bands. The Moonrakers was one of them, and in '67-'68 Jerry led a locally popular five piece band "The Half Doesn't" that drew crowds in Denver's "3.2" beer bars like the "La Pichet" that served up 3.2% / low-alcohol beer and live music to Colorado's 18-year-olds. Sugarloaf was an American rock band that originated under the name Chocolate Hair in 1968. The band, which formed in Denver, Colorado, scored two Top 10 hits, with the singles " Green-Eyed Lady" and "Don't Call Us, We'll Call You". Moonrakers and Chocolate Hair Lead vocalist and keyboardist Jerry Corbetta, along with guitarist Bob Webber, played together in the Denver-based band The Moonrakers. The Moonrakers had previously released 4 singles on Tower; three of the songs being collected in 2005 on the Colorado garage rock compilation album '' Highs in the Mid-Sixties, Volume 18'' and another having been released earlier on the '' Pebbles Volume 10'' LP. Quicksilver Messenger Service is an American psychedelic rock band formed in 1965 in San Francisco. The band achieved wide popularity in the San Francisco Bay Area and, through their recordings, with psychedelic rock enthusiasts around the globe, and several of their albums ranked in the Top 30 of the Billboard Pop charts. They were part of the new wave of album-oriented bands, achieving renown and popularity despite a lack of success with their singles (only one, "Fresh Air" charted, reaching number 49 in 1970). Though not as commercially successful as contemporaries Jefferson Airplane and the Grateful Dead, Quicksilver was integral to the beginnings of their genre. With their jazz and classical influences and a strong folk background, the band attempted to create an individual, innovative sound. The Brogues
The Brogues were an American garage rock band formed in Merced, California, in 1964. Much of the group's brief recording career was marked by distorted-guitar melodies and rhythm and blues, R&B-influenced vocals.
