Henry Robert Pearce (30 September 1905 – 20 May 1976) was an Australian three-time world champion sculler of the 1920s and 1930s. He won consecutive Olympic gold medals in the single sculls at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam and the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. He won the World Sculling Championship in 1933, and twice successfully defended that title in 1934 and 1938. He was a three-time Australian national champion and won the Diamond Sculls at the 1931 Henley Royal Regatta. Colby Pearce (born June 12, 1972) is an American professional cyclist. Known as a time trial specialist, he excelled on the road and on the track, where he won a number of national and international events around the globe. Biography Born in Boulder, Colorado, Pearce began riding in the Red Zinger Mini Classics series for 10–15 year olds in 1988. He rode his first race at what was to become his "home track", the USOTC velodrome in Colorado Springs, in 1990. He competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, finishing 14th in the points race. In November 2005 he retired from the national team and became the US National Endurance Coach, saying he wanted to put something back into the sport. Colin Frederick Pearce (1917 – 10 June 2004) was an Australian rugby league referee. He is one of the most widely known and widely respected referees in the history of rugby league. Pearce, born in Newtown, New South Wales, was originally more interested in cricket but that changed to rugby league due to his fascination with the rules and interpretations of the rules of rugby league. He began refereeing in 1946, he was promoted to the first grade fixtures towards the end of the 1947 season. He then took charge of nine test matches between 1960 and 1967, three World Cup matches in 1968 and six Grand Finals, his first being in 1955, and then the others between 1964 and 1968. Clancee Pearce (born 23 October 1990) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Fremantle Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). After attending Chisholm Catholic College and then Guildford Grammar School, Pearce made his senior debut in the WAFL for Swan Districts in Round 17, 2008 and played in eight league games, including the 2008 WAFL Grand Final, which the Swans lost to Subiaco. Walter Bryan Pearce (25 July 1929 – 11 January 2007) was a British painter. He was recognised as one of the UK's leading naïve artists. Early life Bryan Pearce was born in St. Ives, Cornwall, which remained his home for the rest of his life. His father, Walter, was a butcher in St Ives, played rugby for Cornwall, and was later mayor of St Ives. His mother, Mary Warmington, was a painter from another local family. Pearce suffered from the congenital disease phenylketonuria, which affects the normal development of the brain. Brian Leonard Pearce (8 May 1915 – 25 November 2008) was a British Marxist political activist, historian, and translator. Adept and prolific in Russian-to-English translation, Pearce was regarded at the time of his death as "one of the most acute scholars of Russian history and British communism never to have held an academic post."
